tow-mator

folks i am now the proud owner of a 1949 ford 8n. (tow-mator). my buddy bought this and another tractor for a good price. this one was totally covered with poison ivy when he found it. he rebuilt the generator, ignition system, and wiring harness. turns over twice and fires right up and runs good and doesn't smoke. needs a few things but nothing major. i thought this would be good for me to start out with and i'll get a few things done around the house here.

Puts me in mind of the old Case loader I pushed cow manure around with when I was a twelve-year-old kid.  Maybe--oh--ten thousand times or so.  Dairy farming's charms sorta dimmed on me after a while.

Why invite trouble?  It'd make a nice flower planter.

Best,

George

Very Cool, Johnny!!  We had a 1940's model cub cadet (inherited) until it was used as a trade in on a new ZTR.

man there must have been a million of these made. theres all kinds of implements i can get for this tractor and they're fairly cheap. all kinds of parts dealers too.
i guess some of these where adapted to a flathead v8 back years ago. they called it the ford funk

Did you have to buy tires? Surely they were dry rotted.

Good lord that thing is as old as me.

Cooler looking though.

i think the tractor and i became friends over the past couple of days. she's a little tired but she still works hard. they say ford n tractors require 1 hour of maintenance for 10 hours of operation. with  all the things i've had to do with it has still saved alot of time and back pain.

Looks like the ground was trying to swallow it.  You're mighty handy with stuff.

And have a few more old items there.  I've got a wheelbarrow like that one at the cottage, been around as long as I can remember.  The kid's pedal car is something like I had when REALLY young.  The chain kept falling off, 10 minutes of fun, 50 minutes of maintenance.  Wink

Now that is a cool old implement of destruction for sure!
Love riding around on stuff like that and ripping things up, makes me want to move out to the boondocks and get some land just so I can have one.

That looks like a regular weekend at my house!  I learned a new language helping John work on the tractor.  LOL  John gets a new "toy" for his tractor every year as long as something from the barn leaves before the new toy shows up.  Last year it was a plow that we cleaned and re-built.  This year it is a new roller/areator to improve all the clay soil we have around here.

We've only had to call out the tow truck once when the tractor got stuck in the lake.  John was turning around to tell the kids to get back (they weren't in the way at all) and didn't stop backing up.  At least it was the back end and not the motor.
