1200 mg of what, Joe?

Maybe, if the stars all seem to be in alighment, ONE vodka and tonic in Atlanta?  BTW, I know this sounds sick but does anyone every try one sumitriptan (tablet) an hour before trying to have a drink during a cycle?  With my CH last night, I thought, "maybe I should have tried that...."

I'm seeing my Dr. again this Tuesday.   Do we all share all our medication intake here?  If not TMI, I've got high cholesterol, high BPH, BPH (look it up -- no fun, guys!), and mild anxiety disorder.  I'm on medication for all of them, in addition to the headache stuff (sumitriptan, verapamil, small dose clonazepam).  I don't feel like a walking pharmacy, but my medicne drawer looks like it!  ALL of these chemicals, with their various side effects, are disturbing to a 48-year-old. Granted, my dr. has coordinated some of them to do double duty (verapamil for CH and BP).

I'm willing to try lithium -- it came up at our last dr. visit as a next line of defense -- what are lithium side effects?

Sharing our meds pales by comparison to some of the stuff we discusshere, from our BM's, to our sexual activities or lack thereof......I'm not sure we've come accross a taboo topic yet!  Wink

Side effects of Lithium for me:
For the first 2 weeks or so, you pee a lot! It's a salt and it seems your body tries to get rid of it as fast as you intake it! The dosing takes a few blood tests to get right as it's not based on your size so much as how your body processes it. Some people get hand tremors when on it, I don't have that issue. The mild lethargy I feel from it is easily remedied with a cup of coffee.

Takes about 2 weeks to become effective, has been a life saver for me. Certainly worth a try.

Jim,

If you want to research Lithium, here is a good place to start.

Jim,  can't talk for everyone, but my CH mantra - when in cycle no alcohol of any kind, including vodka and tonic which is my drink of choice (although I like a slice of lime in mine).  So, since you are in cycle, I guess I won't offer to buy you a vodka and tonic, with or without the lime in Atlanta.

Go ahead and go to parties, just fix yourself a glass of ice water and squeeze a slice of lime in it.  It's tasty, it doesn't make the head hurt later, and you think you're getting your drink of choice (sorta).
