TENS unit? Anyone try it or find it effective?
Jul 12th, 2010 at 1:56am

I'm just throwing it out there.  A friend who uses one (sometimes) successfully for migraines has offered to lend it to me to see if it helps with CH.  I've never used one before and wouldn't know where to put the electrode pads, etc.  Anyone tried it?

Nearly 2:00 am -- I'm just getting over my nightly CH, a little ahead of schedule....

Worked well for me for muscle spasms, and may create a distraction from you pain, but have you used oxygen. That's the best think I've found to quickly about a CH.

Yep, tried that and it worked for a little while - actually got some sleep, but alas - it quit working. Never did get the electrodes BACK in the right place again (or Mr. Demon moved around just to screw me up).

I'm not knocking it -- you might try it for some short term relief..

I'm with Jay too... O2 O2 O2... It's almost a sure fire way of aborting - for most of us.

Hope you get some relief soon...  Kiss

Yes, I have Oxygen and yes, it does work as an abortive.
Regarding the TENS unit -- I was thinking that some of the pain associated with CH (for me, a stiff neck afterwards from the tension of the CH) might be helped by TENS -- or, as Jay suggests, a "diversion" from the pain.

Grasping at straws....I am awesomely ready for this cycle to be over....

It works well if youhave muscle tension in the neck and shoulders after.  Never did anything for a hit for me.

I tried it for awhile.  It just made me all the more aware of the terrible pain that already existed and made me focus more on it.  Same for my back pain.  I found it a waste of time.
