Pop, I get my oxygen from Praxair Healthcare Services.  Nothing illegal about it whatsoever.  You're not going to be huffing nitrous.  If you consider the doc I PMed you, you'll see what an open-minded doc is like who specializes in headaches of all sorts.  He will write an O2 script easily.  My insurance doesn't cover O2 for headaches, but for $36/M tank out of pocket, i'm not complaining.  Also, my neuro is colleagues with Dr. Todd Rosen who is a highly respected neuro that use to practice at Jefferson.  I'm putting my help out there my friend.  It would be a much closer drive (Allentown) for you too.  Jefferson has a great headache group though.

Well, wish me luck.... 11am tomorow I meet with a neurologist my doc wanted me to go to.  Apparently the head neuro (CHIEF, I think they call the position) at the Reading Hospital.....

I made an agreement with my doc that i will do the visit with that doc... but if i feel like Im starting at step one again, he would refer me to the neuro of my choice.....

The neurologiste was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

She listened, asked a bunch of questions... took a bunch of notes... put me through some tests.. then said.

"02 is going to be the best thing for you....."

WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!

She called my insurance company.... worded the script the right way and COVERED... about an hour after I left her office the O2 company called and asked if I would be home for delivery of two tanks!!!!

Unfortunatly, I wouldnt be, so they will be at my house at 8am.. to deliver and teach me how to use the stuff.

She also prescribed me....some other BP med, that she said she has had success with in the past, that keeps from the onset of attacks.......

Now , i feel like I can sleep without fear....

That is great news! Praying the 02 proves the silver bullet for you it has been for me. Try and get some of the smaller E-Tanks. They go in your car, your cruiser, you're always right next to relief!!!

Pop, FANTASTIC news!

Just make sure they have a regulator that delivers high flow rates and you're using a non-rebreather mask.  If they don't have one, you can get one on the CH.com store on the left of your screen.  High flow regs you can get on several sites.   If you need any help with anything, just ask any of us.  I'm glad your new neuro supports this therapy.  You seemed to found a winner.  Now, i'll drink to that!   Smiley

Soooooo, I had my first attack with O2 on hand...... Not to sound excited, but I was actually looking forward to having it to see if I could stop it....

Middle of the night (bout 2 hours into sleep)  I woke to the dreadful nasal pain (feels like a sudden pop to me) followed by pressure.  Immediatly, I hit the TREX, then turned on the o2.... I even only ran the regulator at 5 lpm...... I was groggy so I didnt pay to much attention to the amount of time I was on it.. however it was no more than 10 minutes.....  GONE!!!!!  GONE!!!!! GONE!!!! JUST LIKE THAT !!! GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just love it when I hear that someone finds a Dr. like this.  After hearing all the "doctor" horror stories from folks on this site over the last 12 yrs...this kind of gives me hope for the medical profession.

You said you only turned the regualtor to 5 ???   LOLOLOL...that would certainly do nothing for me and most likely I would assume the Trex you used had just kicked in.  How high DOES your regulator go up to?   A lot of us use at least a 25 lpm  and some use an even higher one.  The difference is amazing in how fast one can abort.

Pop, was that Trex an injector?  If so, that's probably why you got the quick abort.  Try using the O2 w/o Trex.  Once you get that down, you won't need Trex anymore and you'll save $$$.  My old Trex just sits there and it's outdated.  It's a last minute back up if anything.  Like Linda said, I would assume the Trex kicked in because there is no way 5LPM would abort a CH for me.  I sometimes go down to 10 or 8 after the hit aborted.  I stay on it couple minutes after the abort to be sure it's gone.  Batch gave me this advice.  Just keep on playing with it and you'll see you won't need Trex anymore.

Best of luck and keep the GOOD news coming....

The Trex was a nasal spray.  Comes in these little one shot containers.   I have used it a few times in the past and it only took the edge of the attack.  However with the o2, it went.  I know the 5 lpm sounds low, but it realy did work.  Now Im not sure (like you said) if the combination is what did it or what... but I will try more o2 and no trex next time.

You didn't answer my question as to how high your regulator went but next time crank that baby up to as high as it will go, O.K.?

if you can afford it, get one that goes to 45 lpm.

INO, when using a trex inhaler at the same time as 5 LPM O2, be careful about assuming it was the O2 that aborted your CH.

A trex inhaler can abort a hit for me, whereas 5 LPM O2 wouldn't touch it.

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.
