Jul 19th, 2010 at 10:28pm

I was just wondering if any members of the site who suffer from CH are also avid to serious weight lifters.  Im looking to ask some questions....

I know Im new, and no one realy knows me but I figured I would put it out there anyway.

Thanks In advance....

I used to be an avid weight lifter until I hit  my late 40's and it just got too tough on the joints. Now it's just cardio and the bow flex! The only conflicts with CH was creatine. Took me a few tries while on cycle....cuz I'm not real quick.....but on cycle creatine is a pretty significant trigger for me. Trial and error will let you know pretty quick. The only other supplement I used was fortified Whey Protien, didn't cause me any problems..

For others they've found that working out on cycle can cause a hit if they overheat.

PM sent, my curiosity stems from whether suppliments (legal suppliments) can help trigger these episodes.

I'm a work freak, job's physical, but all I can say is whether it's Fred, Barney, or Wilma, supplements have had no affect.

I take Mark Twain's attitude towards exercise. Whenever the urge comes over me, I lay down until it passes.

Do 12 oz. curls count? Smiley

Besides, if I didn't have the "shakes" in the morning, I wouldn't get any exercise Grin

BTW, I'll be sure to tell my cousin about the HA's and the stuff he takes, he's a workout freak and gets HA's. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Johnny, the Trike keeps me from losing it some days. Next Spring the HPV World Championships, and the Idaho Tater T.O.T. I need lighter rims and wheel covers, other than that I'm pretty much race ready.
I might do the Northrop IL Velodrome on Aug 10 and Kenosha WI Velodrome Aug. 11. 50 laps 1 mile track at Northrop, mixed races, sprints and a 50 at Kenosha. Catrike 700's like mine aren't allowed to race against bikes usually this video of a 15 mile race at Hellyer Velodrome is an example why Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register bike racers have a hard time dealing with it when you lap them with a trike. Hell if you just pass them they start crying for the race ref. Bunch of whiners.

For me (i use to think) because the beast would always pay me a visit app. 10-15 minutes after starting a work out that that was a trigger...Then again whenever i would relax he would come to say hello to me...I finally realized that i was going to get hit regardless of what i did (or what i would stay away from) so i finally said screw it and live(doing things that i normally would do) my life knowing that he will come...For me,i went many years of the fear knowing and waiting for the next attack (stayed away from many social events and having a life) and when i finally accepted that this is the way it will be,life became better...i guess what i am trying to say is,don't deprive yourself from enjoying your life with this condition (it's not hard to fall into the...why me and depression Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry that can jump in aswell)...wishing you much luck and many PFDAN coming your way.....Lenny

i no longer lift on steady basis. i never had problem with any sups when i did. but when i was in a cycle of Ch's my lifting backed off a little. but i can say there was a day when i was starting a leg work out at home doing squats. couple sets into my warm ups i started to get a cluster headache but decided to continue my work out. i don't know why but by the time i got to my heavy sets my headache was completely gone. i did pay the price later that night and had a mother of all attacks, was one of my worst. no idea if workout had anything to do with it.

I've found that lifting isn't a good thing for me if I'm in cycle, but cardio usually helps.  I do like lifting, just not when in cycle, the exertion and strain send too much blood to the head........  Whereas a good 2-4 mile run leaves me with a clear head for a few hours usually.

Triptans cause increased number of hits and increased intensity.  Learn it, believe it, live it.  I use triptans as the absolute LAST RESORT when treating my CH.&&
