Another doozie (updated)
Sep 8th, 2010 at 2:50pm

The unicorn was driving.

That was the story a Billings man gave police after crashing a pickup truck into a light pole.

Phillip Carston Holliday Jr., 42, was arraigned Tuesday in District Court on felony charges of criminal endangerment and drunken driving. Judge Gregory Todd maintained Holliday's bond at $100,000 after being advised that the man's criminal history includes five prior DUI convictions, four felonies, 35 misdemeanors and 53 traffic violations, including 28 convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Holliday pleaded not guilty to the charges during an appearance by video from the county jail.

Todd rejected a request for a lower bond from a public defender, who argued that Holliday's last DUI conviction is 14 years old and his client is in an emergency medical technician certification program at Montana State University-Billings.

Holliday was arrested March 7 after a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Ninth Avenue North and North 27th Street. Two police officers witnessed the crash, which occurred when a truck drove through a red light and nearly struck another truck in the intersection.

According to court records, the driver then made an erratic U-turn through a gas station, crossed North 27th and crashed into a light pole. The two police officers who were nearby said the driver got out of the truck and fell down. The man got up and tried to run away, but fell again after about 30 feet. He was then arrested.

At Holliday's arraignment Tuesday, Deputy County Attorney Ingrid Rosenquist said Holliday initially denied driving the truck involved in the accident. He told officers a unicorn was driving, Rosenquist said.

People who repeatedly recklessly endanger public safety like that ought to be strung up by the short hairs.

For a long period of time.

A person with the ability to see a unicorn may have a wish granted as a reward.

Wish not granted.  Must be the lawyer didn't present the unicorn as evidence.

Green guys.  Unicorns.  It's a sign.

It's going to be a long, cold winter here in the northern Rockies.  The crazies are growing thick, woolly coats.

Best,

George

The Californians are trying to leave.

Harold Ernst of Colusa, Calif., talks with police officers on Tuesday, September 7 after Ernst drove his pickup pulling his fifth wheel trailer into the 21st Street underpass near Montana Avenue. The trailer was much too tall to clear the railroad bridge.

I knew our educational system was broken, but he can't even read the numeral 8 and understand its implications.  He is challenged in Math as well.  He couldn't comprehend 12'6" divided by 8' equals negative $25,000.

I'm with you Brew. I could still have a dad around if it weren't for the drunk driver that disabled/weakened him when I was 9. He died when I was 10 without ever having fully recovered. 39 years ago.
