Message for those with Chronic CH
Sep 20th, 2010 at 11:13pm

I would like to offer my support and help to those like me that have unfortunately are way up their on the scale.
I started CH  I was 19 and now I have 57 , since a year it has stop, just a bit of medication and I am OK, the first 10 years was by period,  Fall and Spring, the second 10 years was 3 months ON and 3 months OFF, during that period I have consulted 10 neurologist, 9 out 10 being trying their best, but unfortunately it was trial and error, they did their best, but knowledge of CH or migraine was not documented has it is today and what could I say........even an operation on trial removing the vain temporal in 1983, no success, next 10 years got worst, CH was  from one  to 3 per day and I had some relief using a lot of drug prescribe by my doctor specialise in migraine including CH of course, the last 7 years did not improve  but using the medication help me to go thru ,level of pain was 15 on a scale of 10 and I was spending at least 25000.00 a years in medication. I work all those years and it was not easy,  I only did it  because I was capable to do it and lot of help from my doctor,
NOW let stop the bad news,  if some of you have CH each day and more then 3 months in a row ,I understand what you are going thru and today you could find good medical help ,  medical studies and recherche are improving each years, yes I know that their no specific medication that works for all CH, my first recommendation is to find a clinic that is specialise only in migraine and CH, a good doctor will need 2 to 3 months to find the medication and dose that works for you , my message is for those of you that are still suffering ,their is hope,  if I could help by support or suggestion, I will do my best by sharing my own experience from the last 18 years.
GEOman
P.S. Sorry for my English with mistake I am French from Montreal Quebec

Geoman,

First of all there is no need to apologize for your English.  It was very understandable and a whole lot better than my French.   Wink

If you read around this site I am sure you will find that we have all pretty much covered the bases of all the abortives and preventatives that help.  Your sincere wish for us to keep the fasith is very heart-warming.

If there is anything you do not understand about this site we will be more than happy to explain it to you as well as try to help in any other way too.

l'amour de bienvenue et beaucoup    Kiss

Welcome to the board Geoman, I'm with Linda, your English is fine. I'm 50, had CH since I was in my late teens so went thru the same period as you. Doc's just didn't have a clue. Your recommendation to find a headache specialist is spot on! Glad you found us, hoping you're catching some pain free time with the head.

Welcome Geoman
As a chronic myself since 2004 I know the feeling.
I got CH late in life aged 49 now 61 & very quickly learned from this board how to manage the condition.
How you other chronics survived through those years before we got the Internet that allowed communication between each other possible really is astounding, I take my hat off to you. "Survivors"

Cheers
Barry

Welcome Geo, glad to have you.  You'll make a nice addition to the survivors / supporters we have here. I too am chronic and still work.  By no means is it easy, but then what in life ever is.  I'm sure your advice and experience will be of help to many who are new to this beast we call CH.
