energy drinks....hard liqour
Sep 25th, 2010 at 9:02pm

I'm new to this message board. I had three bouts of CH last week three straight days in a row. I didn't have it for like 3 days and then the last three days they have been worse. The doctor believes i have CH so my question is does energy drinks help? Is there a instance where hard liquor does not trigger as often? And this shadow I'm feeling like a dull headache in the right temple. My CH attacks my right eye area.

Alcohol in any form...wine, beer bourbon etc.  is a universal trigger for almost eveyone.  Stay away from it in cycle or pay the consequences!

Energy drinks like Rock Star or Red Bull have caffeine in them as well as Taurine and THAT helps to abort attacks.

Energy drinks....YES
Alcohol...hell NO!!!

Thank you for your reply. I didn't read about the alcohol until already having 6 nights . Last night was the worse. I guess I'm lucky the doctor agreed with me that it was cluster headaches yesterday when he diagnosed me. I'm glad I stumbled across this site.

And I am happy you stumbled across this site too.  You have no idea of how many lives have been saved by just being here, reading all the links that have been put up over the years (to the left of here) the research that has been done, etc.

Stick, around, read, ask questions, read some more.   That's what we're here for & we welcome you with open arms and the hope that something we say or suggest might help you.

Melatonin at night can keep away the night time hits.  Search the site for the most common dosage.  And yes, stay away from the booze!

Read the oxygen info link on the left and get hooked up with oxygen! Cheap, rapid aborts, no side effects, it rocks!

Then talk to your doc about starting a prevent med to lessen the attacks. I use lithium at 1200 mg, Verapamil is a common first line prevent and Topomax has a loyal following too.

Read, read, read. Knowledge is your best ally, relying on your doc to fix this thing will result in many years of pain!!!
