Welding regulator?
Sep 28th, 2010 at 9:57am

Husband is 3 weeks into episodic cycle. Imitrex nasal spray works 70% of time, 5 hour energy shot worked once so far but we've only been using for 3 days. Previously prednisone didn't work.Last cycle Was prescribed oxygen generator that kept headaches to a 6. Question now is   I have 2 bottles of oxygen in garage (m and e) but the e has a welding top and the small regulator I have is post type for medical style e tank. M is luckily enough from my mom who welds, but I couldn't find a regulator to fit it other than online. Trying to find him instant relief, didn't want to wait on shipping. That's why I bought the small regulator (0-15lpm) and e tank yesterday. I also could only find cheap $2 nonrebreathing masks. Question is, can I hook that small tubing that came with mask to awelding regulator, since those are in psi what do I look for? Please help, so awful to know we have oxygen in the garage, but no way to get it to him! He's in the other room now with a headache, please help so I can help him today! Do you know how much you have helped this lurker? Bet you do! thanks!

As marc said yes yes yes until you can get a good mask make do with whatever you have. I too have had to get inventive. others here also right down to using a tp roll and yes it will work.

Get to it

I was able to order the mask from the store here and print out all the pages you sent me, Marc- my thanks! Think I have a better handle of what I need, what I'm looking for, and confidence we can do this.

I'll be d**ned if this beast will take my husband- it'll have to fight me for him! Put your money on me, folks, this is NOT a fight I'm going to lose!

Where there is life, there is hope.
Where there is Oxygen, you must use proper caution.
So be safe, don't smoke while using O2. Kill the pain and not yourself.

Thanks! first oxygen use a sec ago (got it all hooked up correctly, not difficult) and no progression to full headache. Fingers on one hand crossed for luck, fingers on the other hand balled in a fist to fight on if the beast comes back!

What Marc said!

Glad you got started and that you ordered the O2ptimask.  That mask and the higher flow rates  make all the difference for me.

Glad you quit lurking and started posting.  Welcome to the family.
