A little Perspective or just a really bad day.


Yesterday was one of THE WORST days!!

Got to work at 7:20 am, at 7:25 am I heard a Gloria woman I work with Scream "NO!"  Immediately my heart leaped to my throat.  A few of us that were in at that time went over to see what was going on, What we saw no one should ever see let alone a mother.  Gloria's son who also works at the same place we do was sprawled out face down on the floor in front of his mother.  He'd had a seizure or past out.  I was far enough away that others had gotten there first so I stayed out of the way.  Her son then began to have another seizure just after another woman had helped Gloria to the bath room to throw up.  I couldn't watch anymore went back to my desk and listened to our on staff emergency personnel try to resuscitate him and cheer him on by saying "Common Ronnie Common!"  Gloria came out of the restroom visibly in shock and then the ambulance arrived, both she and her son were taken to the hospital.  The rest of us tried and pretty much failed to get any work done waiting to hear if Ronnie was ok.  The next thing we heard put us all in shock, Ronnie had past away.  His blood pressure had spiked so high that it caused a couple of seizures and his eventual death. He would have been 43 today.  I really lost it, being a mother who has lost a child (years ago) I know the pain she is in and the pain still to come.  To know someone else personally who is going through this HELL is horrible let alone to be reminded (as if you needed it) of your own loss and pain.  CH has got nothing on this!!!  I muddled through the day crying on and off as were a few others who knew and worked more closely with Gloria or Ronnie.  Stressed, crying and CH bad combo. Got nailed with a Scale tipper in the afternoon at work ran for my F-ing imitrex shot and completed my work day. 

Then I got home...nope day's not done yet...

I heard my son and his girlfriend come home a couple hours later and went down to greet them.  His G/F was blocking my view of him deliberately...first clue somtins up... Finally got around her to see my son with a bloody shirt and an ice pack held up to his face.  Turns out during his Karate class that day another student wound up kneeing him in the face.  Two teeth both upper and lower went right through his lip, not a pretty site.  He had me check it out to see if it would be manageable or if he needed stitches (he got lucky there) no need for stitches.  A Quick trip to the pharmacy for some wound care items we were out of and after we got him cleaned up, I wound up having to do something I'd never thought I'd have to do again... spoon feed my son, since he couldn't get any food in him with out hitting the open portion of the lip wound.  He had to eat something he hadn't eaten since break fast and by this time it was almost 8pm.  The bleeding had finally stopped for the most part with a minimal amount of oozing, it took a couple of hours total for us to completely stop the bleeding.  At least I still have my son alive and well.


Be greatful for your loved ones and show it often, you never know when it will be your last opportunity to do so.

Wow, what a day!  I'm very sorry about your co-workers son Ginger, that is so very sad.  It is also tragic that the mother was there to witness it.  My condolences to her and her family.

I hope you are doing better now, and am sorry your son got hurt, but his wound, fortunately, can heal.  It is so hard being a parent, especially when it has to do with your child.  Hugs to you!!

Ginger, what an awful, awful experience you had.  My heart breaks for your co-worker...and I'm so sorry for the loss you experienced years ago too.  I don't think anyone ever truly gets over that.  If anything positive comes out of yesterday, you're right, never take your loved ones for granted and show/tell them you love them every chance you get.  Take care friend...

Unfortunately the teeth through the lip scenario is something that comes with the Martial Arts territory.  Just ask me about my Casey sometime
