still going.......
Oct 27th, 2010 at 8:21am

im on my third day of my most recent bout with CHs.  since coming on this website i have learned so much.  yesterday i went out and bought a 4 pack of red bull, and to much suprise it helped.  i also tried 10mg of melatonin before i went to bed and i was actually able to sleep through the night, but i woke this morning with a bad one.  i was also wondering if anyone else had symptoms like i get, its always the right side of my face, when they hit bad cold really bothers it, either just breathing through my right nostril, or drinking cold water.  also i took a shower and remembered that the warm water seemed to relieve it when it was on my face, but the second i got out of the shower it hurt sooooo friken bad.  judging from past CHs im hoping it will be over today and i can go on with my normal life.

one good thing about getting these now is that im getting married on december 4th, i couldnt imagine how bad they would suck getting them on a day like that

Heat and cold are funny ones. Some prefer the burning hot shower and steam, some prefer the ice cold, even breathing in through the nose with their head in the freezer! (me)

Are you working with a competent headache neuro yet? This would be the time to find a neuro you are comfortable with, and plan a long term strategy. I suggest thi because nothing is predictable about CH, and you could very well start a cycle December 1st! (Crossing myself 3X to avoid jinxing you!!)

You should get a prescription for Imitrex Injectables. I use them VERY sparingly, they have never failed me and work in just a few minutes. That way if, heaven forbid, beasty does try and stick his ugly mug into your wedding day, you'll have the trump card up your sleeve.

Good luck on your wedding day, mine was 28 years, 1 month and 15 days ago, best move I ever made. Wink

Wow that is a short cycle! (though believe me I would never ever call you lucky for it! That would be like the one eyed, torn eared dog with a limp being named Lucky- it always made me go "Hmmm, really?" Even a short cycle is still a cycle with these bastard things!) What about a prednisone taper? It might get you all the way through your cycle and block the hits- just an idea, we'll let the more knowledgeable weigh in on that one. O2 has worked wonders for my husband- I HIGHLY recomend it. We didn't wait for a prescription, we used the welding O2 route- I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Congratulations on your coming wedding, and bring your soon to be wife on the board. I am a supporter so I can attest to the fact that she wants to know more and help- and she can and it will make a difference for you both, I promise! Lucas and I have been married for going on 7 years (together for almost 12) and it was hands down the best decision I ever made!

Please do explore the O2 link and find a way to get some. It's the best abortive, even better than things like energy drinks and melatonin. Funny how the medical community isn't impressed with such things as these, but we are. Seems like they got some catchin' up to do. Anyway, welcome aboard, keep your arsenal going, look into preventatives as well, and hang in there! Blessings. lance

What they said!  I can't add anything other than to underscore the O2.  It and the energy drink is a real knockout for the beast.

Congratulations too on your wedding.  Mine was 33 years and a couple of months ago, but it made me.  I hope you are at least half as happy as I have been.  I know it will be successful then.

As Lauren said, bring your fiancee on the site.  She needs to know what she is getting in to, because there is a very good likelihood your cycles won't remain short. Sad  hate to break it to you, but often that is the case.  Then again, you may never have another.  Here's hoping for the latter.

I know it is very shortly after your wedding, but in Jan we have a get together in St Louis where you can meet a bunch of us crazies and talk some of this out in person.  I guarantee it is life changing meeting another clusterhead.  It would also be good for your new wife to know who it is you spend time with on the internet everyday, cause once you get to know us we are family. Wink  Check the Meetings and Gatherings page if you want any further info.
