Alternate side headaches?
Nov 3rd, 2010 at 5:28pm

Okay, so by now, most of us know that these cycles can vary year to year and cycle to cycle. In years past, I never have any pain on my left side. When I start to feel slight pain on the left (like normal tension or sinus headaches, etc.) I know a cycle is nearing the end.

This year, of course, has been slightly different. While I'm not getting attacked on the left, I have felt tremendous pressure at times, and now that I'm only getting some minor twinges since I've started on the verapamil and oxygen therapy, I'm starting to get the twinges on the left as well. They're not really painful, just annoying and distracting. They don't last long, from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. Kind of like hot spots. I described the ones on my right side (my CH side) as being like the game "Whack-a-mole." A hot spot or twinge will pop up in one spot, then disappear, only to pop somewhere else moments later.

Anyway, does anyone experience pain or twinges on the pain-free side during or after a cycle?

Any info or advice is appreciated, as usual. Just when you think you've got these things figured out, they throw you completely off course.

Thanks, in advance.

It's not common, but it does happen.  I'm one who will switch sides on occasion.  NOT fun!  Also sometimes I'll get the beginning of a hit on my left side that moves over to the right.  That is usually the beginning of a major hit.  You are right though.  The beast is constantly changing up on us.

This sounds a lot like ice pick headaches.

I get these too, sometimes I'll get a CH in the next 5-15 minutes, the rest of the time nothing happens.

When I get them I'll normally grab a Red Bull which seems to scare away the beast.
