One of the greatest highlights of my career will occur Wednesday as I am sitting in with the Roots during the Jimmy Fallon Show on NBC TV. My friends from the Experience Music Project Museum (EMP) in Seattle have asked me to play the most significant guitar in the Jimi Hendrix collection, Jimi's white Stratocaster. This guitar is probably best known as the instrument Jimi played on the morning of August 18, 1969 at the Woodstock Festival. It's the same guitar on which he played The Star Spangled Banner, the recording of which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2009.
The guitar was acquired by EMP in 1992 and has been in the Seattle-based museum's permanent collection since that time. EMP is bringing the guitar to New York, accompanied by two curators, in support of Experience Hendrix's continuing efforts to bring the music of the late guitarist to successive generations.
Following the taping of the Fallon show, the guitar will be be transported to the Beacon Theater. I will play it during my set in the Experience Hendrix tour. It will be the first time Jimi's guitar has been played in more more than 40 years in front of a live audience.
Be sure and tune in or set your DVR.
I am also extremely pleased with your support of our latest Live! In Chicago album. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart where it remained for four weeks in a row. We have made a Special Edition album with bonus tracks including Voodoo Child, available as a digital download only.
The next studio album is being completed now. Look for it in April/May of next year.

Hey kids, on tomorrow night's show, guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd will be sitting in with The Roots, playing the white Fender Stratocaster that Jimi Hendrix played during his legendary Woodstock performance on August 18, 1969. WHOAH! That is so badass. Kenny Wayne is currently playing with the Experience Hendrix tour, celebrating Jimi's music.
