I think if you adopt the philosophy that a lifestyle is what causes CH, your theory might be applicable to me. After 32 years of CH, I've come to accept that my Hypothalamus is defective, this causes me to typically cycle into CH 2X a year. (I'm episodic)

In the early years, I tried every life style change I could think of, to no avail. An effective treatmnet regimen allowed me to maintain a 30 year career which I recently retired from, and live a relatively normal life.

I take my CH very seriously, but do NOT allow it to dictate how I live my life, it's a personal choice of how I let it affect me.

Indeed.  That is my philosophy as well.

Triptans cause increased number of hits and increased intensity.  Learn it, believe it, live it.  I use triptans as the absolute LAST RESORT when treating my CH.&&

I don't get it.

Maybe it's just me.

I apologize if my response seemed negative, it honestly was not my intent to be. I try and speak only from my experiences, these are what I was trying to relate to you. Take a deep breath, continue reading on the boards, take the good that may apply to you, let the other go.

Wishing you some peace and pain free time.

Yeah, I don't get it either--what lifestyle change are you talking about specifically??  And are you painfree at this point--I am just confused.
(This condition is caused by something in the brain--I started getting these HAs at 14 and had never had so much as a cup of coffee and was living a normal lifestyle).

The original post was deleted by it's author, it was a very interesting, thought provoking post on how we view our CH. I'm sorry he deleted it, although I didn't agree with all of it, he asked some great questions in it. Undecided

Sorry Joe, pain free but sleepless

Sleep deprivation in a guy trained on a military field unit like me is never a good thing. I thought my post might help some people; I was not looking for help in that case and misunderstood your role and response. Thank-you for the help you did give us on my other post though fella and sorry for the misunderstanding.

No problem, glad you've joined the family, and yeah, the sleep deprivation can be just horrible. Sad

In the military we are conditioned, through sleep deprivation to respond aggressively. I thought you were having a crack at me mate, again I apologise to everyone who didn't seek to provoke.

The post took hours to write too, but was too long, deep, radical and badly explained for people to understand so I removed it. It was about 25 years of experience so to expect to be explain it in just one day, in one post was too much to expect.

Welcome Tony.....hang in there mate.  When in cycle, a lot of peeps are sleep deprived and sometimes curt. It is what it is.

Glad that you have found this place. We have been here for many years and there is a lot of good info listed here.

I started my clusters while in the military in 1970. I had them yearly or twice a year for around 20 years and then they got farther and farther apart. My last cycle was in 2000. I have been pain free since then.

My silver bullet was 02 that was finally prescribed to me around 1985. I found this place in 2000 and have been here every since. Smiley
