Energy Drinks
Dec 1st, 2010 at 5:31pm

I know that energy drinks like Red Bull help a CH attack but my question is will the small bottles of 5 hr. energy drink to the same?  Or are they totally different?

Some people find them helpful. They don't contain as much caffeine and taurine as the bigger cans. I guess you could have Eric experiment.

When is Eric going to join this group?

Last time I checked those 5 hr. energy drinks are advertised as low in caffiiene and therefore aren't good for CH.

[Edited in response to Jerry's message below]

The little Red Bull shots are good though.

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

So the little red bull shots will do the same.  His problem is that the cans get crushed in his back pack.  He has some regular ones and O2 in the nurses station but I'm afraid by the time he tells the teacher, gets the pass, and walks up to the nurse (you know Highs Schools are big), his headaches will be set in.  If I can get him the little bottle of Red Bull, it might help to take right then until he gets to the nurses station.

A Red Bull Energy Shot contains 80mg of caffeine - the same as one of their small cans, and about the same as a cup of coffee. I can't find the amount of taurine in a Red Bull Energy Shot anywhere, but their website states:

Quote:
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE EFFECT OF A RED BULL ENERGY DRINK CAN AND RED BULL ENERGY SHOT?

There is no difference in the effect as both products, Red Bull Energy Drink and Red Bull Energy Shot, contain the same functional ingredients. While it delivers the same functionality, Red Bull Energy Shot addresses additional consumption occasions (e.g. when chilling a can of Red Bull Energy Drink is not feasible, when wanting to limit the intake of liquid).
Energy Drinks are classified as normal foodstuffs whereas Energy Shots are generally classified as food supplements. Food supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect which are designed to be taken in measured small unit quantities. We recommend 1 shot per day.

%hr Energy contains as much caffeine as a Red Bull, about the same as a cup of coffee.  I'm not sure of the amount of Taurene, but they work for me.  I find them a lot easier on the stomach and I don't  get the letdown later.

Woops - sorry, my bad about the 5 hour energy caffiene content.

I hate dishing out misinformation like that!  Sad  I went back and struck through my 5 hour energy/caffiene comment above.

I do wish the 5 hour energy people would list their dang ingredients in detail. Angry

That's what you get when you capitalize a 5.  I was not cussing, although I might have had reason to be.
