So,the dang doc insists on a CT/MRI for diagnosis.

...and we don't wanna because it's expensive, unnecesary, a waste of time....we KNOW what we have...HEY, read it on the internet!

Well, the folks on THIS site regularly and adamantly indicate that we are not doctors. While we do indeed frequently know more about ch than the physicians we seek help from....our knowledge is anecdotal...based on shared experiences...and supplemented by literature research(thanks Bob and others)....none of which qualifies us as an MD. "GO SEE A DOC" is the BEST advice!

So, let me relate WHY this thread title.

Last week, a customer, through his friend (my colleague) reached out to me because of my well known experience with "headaches". I am thusly considered an "expert" (YIKES!)...and it puts a lot of pressure on me NOT to overstep my knowledge. The responsibility is immense...I don't take it lightly.

He related sudden onset, excruciating, one sided, teary eye, nausea, and a few other symptoms. Some of these sounded ch...but seemed more migraine. I FIRST asked if he had sought medical treatment. Answer..."Yes, doc says stress, go home, take some aspirin and relax". This in Japan...so, sheesh, apparently they don't know, respect, or regard headache any better there than U.S.
(at least this guy). NEXT, I advised a second opinion from a headache neuro here...with a visit to The National Headache Foundation website to use their diagnostic "tool"...and read about migraine in the meantime. Told him to contact me again based on what he found there... if it didn't fit would have had him take the cluster quiz.

He indeed sought a second opinion...never made it to the cluster quiz because the doc did a CT...AND FOUND A BRAIN TUMOR!!!!!!

He underwent surgery today (4 hours) and we are awaiting news.....

I don't question diagnostic testing anymore...

Best,

Jon

That's an excellent reminder to all of us, Jon.

You and Bob Johnson have got it right--a firm diagnosis and diagnostic tests are extremely important to eliminate more ominous possibilities.

CH won't kill us--but other things that act like CH just might.

Best,

George

Thanks Jon.  I saw your title and was going to jump on that, but you did it right.  Your friend owes you a big one!

Praying for him.
