Total eclipse of the moon tonight
Dec 20th, 2010 at 11:52pm

For all you night owls. It is suppose to be total after 3 AM EST. Unfortunately for me the lake effect snows decided to not stay up north where they belong and it is overcast and snowing.

Watching it here.  It's begun.  This will be the first time that the winter solstice coincides with a total lunar eclipse since 1638.

You'd think the astrologers would have a field day with that one.   Wink

Best,

George

It's due to start here in 34 minutes, however there are quite a few clouds around, so I'm just hoping they'll move away in time.

Entering the umbra, and turning red.  It's something to see, all right.

Best,

WE had freezing rain here.  No cloud openings.   Sad  Really wanted to see this one.

I ended up only seeing clouds and more clouds.

But there are going to be two next year (June 15th and December 10th) that will be visible in NZ at least (we'd not had one here since 2007). So it's likely that other areas of the world will also get to see them on those dates (adjusted for your timezone).
