clueless any help.
Feb 1st, 2011 at 5:09pm

hi all,

i posted the other day saying i had a couple of twinges
after 3 years cluster free.Last night i was woken at 12.10am
with what i thought was going to be the full monty. I drank a pint of water straight away i lay in bed massaging over my
affected eye which was watering a bit it only lasted 20 mins
and was not bad at all which is a bit unusual for me they are
normally 8-10 on the kip scale and last a min. of 2 hours from the start of the cycle. I have had ch's for 19 years
but was only diagnosed at the end of my last cycle.
Could somebody tell me how i go about getting an o2 set up at home .I was referred to the migraine clinic the last time
should i try to get an appointment there or try and sort out
treatment myself ? I think i am going to need something soon
. Iam open to any treatments but haven't a clue how to go about it. I am in Ireland. Any help would be much appreciated.

many thanks,

eamo.

This is a link which will tell you everything you need to know to set up a medical grade 02 rig, or if you run into problems there, how to use welding oxygen.

Also look at this site, it may have more specific info regarding how to get it in your country. The specifics with 02, you must get 100% oxygen to your lungs, at the first sign of an attack. No outside air, no exhaled air. Best accomplished using a Non Re Breather Mask, and a high flow regulator of at least 15 LPM.

I would suggest you try to find a headache specialist neurologist to treat your CH. There are so many treatments available now. Prevents like Verapamil, Lithium and Topomax to reduce the number and intensity of your attacks. Abortives like oxygen, Imitrex injectables and nasal sprays which work in minutes to abort an attack. All require prescriptions and many require monitoring while you're on them.

For now, grab a six pack of energy drinks, I like sugar free red bull but any containing the combo of caffiene and taurine will work. Chug it down at the first hint of an attack. many can abort or reduce an attack that way.

Check out this link, it discusses really ramping up your water intake to work as a prevent, worth a try.

Welcome to the board, we'll help you any way we can!

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.
