passage from a book (Eldest, Christopher Paolini)
Mar 2nd, 2011 at 4:01am

I was reading book 2 Eldest by Christopher Paolini last night and came across this passage wich me and my wife thought described CH and wondered if the author suffered from the same thing or something similar.

Eragon is riding his dragon to start the days training.
quote:-
One morning, as he clung to a spike on her neck, Eragon said, I have a new name for my pain.
Whats that?
The Obliterator, Because when youre in pain, nothing else can exist. Not thought, Not emotion. Only the drive to escape the pain. When its strong enough, the Obliterator strips us of everything that makes us who we are, until were reduced to creatues less than animals, creatures with a single desire and goal: escape
A good name then
Im falling apart, Saphira, like an old horse thats plowed too many fields. Keep hold of me with your mind, or i may drift apart and forget who i am
I will never let go of you

during a part of the days training Eragon sufferes another attack

quote:-
As he uncurled from the clenched ball he had rolled into, Oromis said Again, Eragon. You must perfect your balance. Eragon shook his head and growled in an undertone, No. He crossed his arms to hide his tremors.
What?
No
get up, Eragon, and try again.
No Do the pose yourself, I wont
Oromis knelt beside Eragon and placed a cool hand on his cheek. holding it there, he gazed at Eragon wih such kindness, Eragon understood the depth of the elfs compassion for him, and that, if it were possible, Oromis would willingly assume Eragons pain to reliece his suffering.
Dont abandon hope, said Oromis. Never that.
as i read this passage it reminded me of the bad times and how my wife was allways there for me either with kindness, hope or words to give me stength to carry on

Mark (feeling very moved)

Hi Jerry,
my wife has stopped me losing the plot more than once in the last years. She complains though that her back is hurting as her wings are getting too big LOL
