Went to TJ this week to buy Zomig
Mar 5th, 2011 at 12:39pm

It started up again. The beast has awoken. I'm getting tired spending a fortune on Zomig (no insurance coverage) and i can't wait for zomig to be mailed to me from Canada. Fortunately i live near Los Angeles, about 2 hours from Tijuana. So this week I parked my car on US side and walked over (dont drive). Press reports are way overblown. This isn't Cairo or Libya, I felt safe and the pharmacies are very well regulated. Anyways, as you go through the gates there are pharamacies less than 100 feet, so you dont have to walk too far. Most are filled with gringos doing what i'm doing. Most are small and had only a few boxes (two x 2.5ml = 5ml) of Zomig. Nearly all have warehouses in town so if you have a large order they  can get them to you within in 24 hours or less.  The key is to call a day ahead. I found one that could get my order within 1 hour and of all the pharmacies i went to it was the cheapest at $18.85 for 1 box, again  2 x 2.5ml (5ml). There is a McDonalds next door so I got a burger, read the paper and waited less than 1 hr. The other 2 pharm. i purchased from were $20+/-. Bottom line i bought a total of 39 boxes (each box 5ml) from 3 pharm. for $777 or $19.92 per box. No prescription is needed and as far as i know you can purchase as much as you like for personal consumption. Of course bringing it over by the truck load maybe a different story.

Some advice.

1. Bring passport, drivers license and if possible copy of birth certificate - in case passport is loss.

2. Taxis are right there at the border and can take you further into town (approx. 2 miles) - i went to a larger pharm in a mall called Plaza de Rio. Taxis ride was $4 there and $4 back to border. Larger pharmacies are further into town and are frequent by the locals. This is where i bought the bulk of my boxes (20), i bought all they had.

3. Best to go in the morning, try to get back before 3:00 as the line to get across is LONG after 4:00.

4. If paying with credit card you may want to call credit card company ahead and tell them what you are doing time since most cc transactions over $100 in TJ are red flagged by the cc and will be rejected. U.S. cash is best. NO CHECKS

Finally, I would really like to give the name of the pharmacy that i consider the best at $18.85 per box, but not sure if this forum allows me to do that (see rules and regs.).

Hope this helps

Oxygen is way cheaper than that.  No muss no fuss done deal.
