Thank you for pointing these out, Pat.  Smiley

Kakapo's are fascinating birds--what little I know of them.  Flightless parrots, and critically endangered.  I'm very partial to hummingbirds, so seeing the photos of hummers I've never seen was a real pleasure.

All the best,

George

oh my..........then you should really meet Guiseppi and Christy Sprecco's "fat bastard"  as they call him.

They live near San Diego where the weather is always warm.  They go through syrup in all their feeders every couple of days.   Their hummingbirds absolutely adore Joe and Christy.  "fat bastard" scares away all newcomers however.

I've told Joe... he does have a weapon....shoot the SOB....but he never listens to what I have to say.  Instead he'll complain on how much fat bastard is costing him.   Go figure!   Roll Eyes

The Kakapo is quite a fascinating bird and in real danger of becoming extinct here in New Zealand, however the Department of Conservation, with a lot of help from volunteers, is doing some pretty good work to help the population recover.
