Chris, SSI and Family Squabbles

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I think it's important to address an unintended consequence of the thread I mention. It is inevitable for those who are in close proximity to one another to find a casual gesture or comment abrasive. Think of a time you were in a crowded elevator and barely withheld comment about someone else in the same cramped quarters but did so because you knew the ride would end soon, and so would the fragile social contract you had with the other elevator passengers.  Everything about that was less than critical, and also short term. Not so here. We are indeed a family and have come to rely upon one another. We are protective of each other. And we have come to sense a shared fraternity/sorority as fellow sufferer's. Given that kind of vulnerability and closeness, we will from time to time fuss at one another, or even hurt each other unintentionally. That's what I think happened on this thread.  Please understand, I'm posting this, not for the veterans who will almost certainly persevere and rally to one another but for the newbies and tweenies like me who have come to depend upon all ya'll so much. Families fuss. OK. But we are still a family and when the chips are down, we will come to each other's side. I am so grateful for this site, and for the enormous time and energy you all voluntarily put into it. Chris, if you're reading this, please find a way to put this all behind you. There is a greater bond in our common need and greater value in our common welfare. Thanks to all and let us keep in mind, the kids are watchin'! Forgive me if I have overstepped my bounds. Blessings. lance

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

Threads in which people disagree eventually drop off the page--the closest thing to "forgive and forget" there is on a message board.

That is, unless someone deliberately decides to go back (let's say three months or so) and resurrect them so we can have the squabble all over again.

Just saying.

Best,

George

Amen,
maybe we should have a area for people to talk things out with a third person. A bit like a marriage counceller.
