Indomethacin not working anymore

Was diagnosed with CPH about 7 years ago but have had them for 14 years. I'm on indomethacin 75mgx3 daily and stomach tablets.
The pain is getting worse and am suffering from backache and stomach ache with the indo. I don't want to stop cause i'm scared of how many attacks i'll actually get if i stop taking the indo. Does the medication stop working or have i somehow switched to CH or HC. Waiting to see the neurologist. I'm exhausted and fed up of the pains Embarrassed

If this is the only med you are/have been using you have a very out of date doc. Indo is not one of the first line meds for Ch.

We understand. You shouldn't stop any med treatment without checking with your doc first. And you can take Bob's article link as money in the bank. There is hope...and there are effective abortives and preventatives. Research and be your own best advocate. Make a list of everything that has worked for somebody that you haven't yet tried, and discuss it with your doc. If your doc isn't a headache specialist, try and get a referral to one who is. Hi Selina,

Well I think the good news is that you'll likley have some good options when you switch to another med or treatment.

Notice how in Batch's post above the National Guideline shows high liter flow 100% O2 as the top abortive for CH. Having an effective, non toxic abortive at the ready like that can really ease a transition when you know you can abort hits that come along.

You may have already noticed how popular O2 is among the members here, and not just for transitioning from one med/treatment to another.

And that's just for starters.

Is the neurologist you're waiting for the appointment with a bonafide headache specialist BTW? If not, you'd be well advised to wait for one of those instead because they tend to be the only ones you can rely upon to be informed, while many rank and file neurologists are appallingly uninformed.

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.
