MDMA and CH
Apr 4th, 2011 at 1:24pm

Hey guys,
So it seems I only come here once a year when I am in my cluster.  I feel like a bad board member and to those suffering more often than I, I can only offer you my love and support, so I will try and be more active here.

I had a question though.  I've been in my cluster for about a week now.  No drinking.  Saturday night I went to a concert and took some MDMA (Molly..like ecstasy, but only the active ingredient).  Everything went well and I had a great time, but in the morning I woke up with one of the worst Cluster Headaches I've ever had.

It stuck around about 4x longer too.  Now I know the obvious answer is "you took drugs and you were hungover, duh", and that's valid.  I'm wondering though about the connection between drugs that release a lot of serotonin and cluster headaches.

Was my headache worse because of the MDMA or was it just a particularly bad one for no reason?

This is the second report in a month here where the use of MDMA was followed by severe headache.  (The other report may or may not have been CH, since the individual had not been diagnosed.)

I realize this is not at all conclusive.  After all--just because one thing happened before the other did, doesn't mean that they represent cause and effect.

Still...  <shrug>

Best,

George

I know MDMA has been implicated in lowering levels of serotonin in the brain of CHRONIC MDMA users...

I don't know about a "one time use" type of thing, but I've always suspected that it would be a bad move for the clusters.  Have you thought about trying some of the Tryptamine hallucinogens that have been known to help clusters, like psilocybin or LSD?

Interesting.  I've heard about LSD and mushrooms helping CH before, and a friend actually brought me some LSD the other day because she knew I was suffering.

My concern though, is that I don't want to be on ACID while going through an attack...that would be too much to handle.

So I should wait until I'm between attacks, right?

disclaimer, I dont not advocate the taking of drugs nor take them etc... yea yea

YES.......

Although... I feel like the vaso effects of LSD might actually relieve a hit, but from someoe who has been to 80 phish shows.... take it from me dont even try that....

if you are on prednisone or verapamil etc.... you should try to go 5 days without that before trying that

I have found that while under the effects of hallucinogens one is immune to CH for the most part. I have been hit while shrooming but did not freak out or die or anything. I just hit the 02 and hung on. Hurts just as bad. Still kickin Wink

It was LCD Soundsystem at Madison Square Garden...their last show ever.  So epic!

Ok.  I take Fioricet as an abortive when I get an attack and I take Propanolol at night so I can get through the night.

The LSD is sitting in my desk just waiting to be used, should I wait until the Fioricet and Propanolol have left my body before taking?

This video is where I got the idea, btw.  Lets all go to Denmark and get some damned Bromo.

Suggest you go to ClusterBusters.com for info on how to use alternate treatments.
