I generally don't date much due to OCD and germ issues.  Well, after a fairly long dry spell, I finally met someone a couple of weeks ago.  Things were going great...but then I had a stomach bug one weekend and had to cancel.  I finally recovered from the stomach bug and the gd cluster headache cycle started.  I'm in almost 2 weeks (mine usually last 1 month).  So between the OCD, the stomach virus, and now the 1-month cluster headaches, this girl lost interest in me....I don't blame her.  I think she thinks I'm making up these headaches to avoid the intimacy...it was difficult to explain them to her.  We should set up a dating site for cluster headache sufferers.

I had a similar issue recently, although mine was my first ever cluster... I just told her the truth and said albeit it in a nicer artful way that this is the truth... I told her if i wanted to blow her off I would have with a far lamer and less detailed excuse.... I also sent her a pic of imitrex injector and made a joke about pulp fiction... talked about the needless injection and how cool it was... I told her the next time we go out she can inject me if I get a headache.

just be playful about it and try to keep a good sense of humor about everything.

man when i was about 20 or so i was in a cycle. i would be talking to some nice girl at a bar or something and we would really be hitting it off and then an attack would come on and i would have to go outside and endure the pain. then after i got myself put back together and went back inside she'd be gone or talking to somebody else. man that used to piss me off. lol
yeah a clusterhead dating site would be nice Smiley

I would have to agree, finding someone that believes you in the first place let alone would sign on for dealing with all the pain and the meds is not an easy thing for sure.
I still cannot believe Nancy has been with me for two years now and has not once waivered in her support of me and for those of you who have told me to marry the girl, well guess what, I asked her on the first night of our vacation last week on the cruise ship. I have to say it was funny when I took a knee she thought I fell down and was trying to help me up. Lol Guess I had her snowed pretty good she said she did not think I would be ready for another year or two, I told her I wanted to surprise her and I did a good job and she did say yes. Planning on next spring but no date yet, wish I had it on video she was like a deer in the headlights for sure.
So it is possible to find someone so if you are single don’t give up there are people out there that would be willing to deal with this they are just a little tougher to find is all and lord know having someone that cares is very comforting when you are in pain.

Matt

Yes...I do alot of joking around about it....like tonight....everyone keeps asking me what I'm doing this weekend....so I say I have a date with the tank.  I went out last week and was drinking soda at a bar (because alcohol will instantly trigger a headache) and I was joking about getting all messed up on the soda.

Right now, I'm getting 3-4 episodes a night...I find the O2 works in about 15 minutes or so, but the beasts come back.  It's like the O2 just delays the inevitable.  Before I used O2, I would only get one 1-2 hour attack a night....now I'm getting multiple attacks in shorter duration due to the O2.

I was just thinking, maybe you could start a Yahoo group for singles in chronic pain?
There has got to be a lot of people out there dealing with pain that would love to find someone that knows what they are dealing with and are willing to deal with it with them. Just a thought.

Dating with ch can be tricky. My choice was to avoid dating at first, because I wanted to understand what I was dealing with.

Then, when I was dating, I did tell about ch to the fellas, even when I was pf, because we all know that ch can do whatever it wants - including returning when it's not "supposed" to.

My husband has been on my side since the day one. He was there when I had my first (and so far, the last) kip 10 and helped me through that and many other hits. In fact, I trust him so much that I've never tried to hide a hit from, like I've done in the past. I know that I can rely on him.

So to the single clusterheads among us... don't give up. There are great people out there, people who will care about you, support you and help you through each and every hit and cycle. Smiley And marry you. Smiley

Sanna

Dating...I never once stopped my life to date with CH, but that was only for....well ya know. they never got to know me long enough and when they did and found out it was adios amigo. I didnt care.
5 years of being single....and then one day....I met her.
Our very first date she said Look I have to be honest about something...and I though Oh no, she has a penis...LOL j/k
I said ok....She tells me she is in recovery. I thought OH MY GOD JACKPOT....I was happy actualy. I dont drink and hate or best described LOATHE drugs....finally someone who doesnt drink or do drugs and hats off to her for recognizing a problem and dealing with it. She is 5 years clean as of last summer. Then I told her I had CH.....Our first date April 27, 2010......we are getting married this Jan in Florida.
Dreams and fairytales come true. Have faith. he or she is out there.
ps....word of advice, take it or leave it
If she runs, hides or freaks at your first attack then she or he will probably have a tough time dealing with the years to come
If she stays and comforts you or cries or offers help and or love...Hold on to him or her for a lifetime. They are a rare breed. I wouldnt give her up for the world. Not even to be CH free.
(these two in the photo are better than any drug, they saved my life)

You're a pretty handsome guy, too.

(That doesn't make me gay, does it? Naw. Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Grin )
