1. To make it up close and personal rather than an air strike.

AND

2. To keep the Pakistanis out of the loop.

AND

3. To give the evil bastard a proper Muslim burial.

All while the prices of gas and food continue their precipitous climb and jobless claims rise to an 8-month high.

Now that's talent.

I swore I'd never do this again...but seriously some of these responses make me LOL!!!  The price of gas and food are going up whether Bin Laden was taken out or not...what's your point?  (Rhetorical question).  During the next election if he hadn't we'd be hearing "well he sure didn't get Bin Laden like he promised in his campaign".   I'm not a Obama fan right now for many reasons but at least this Commander In Chief (and his staff and God bless all the men and women in our military and their brave efforts) took out the son of a bitch and for that I'll do a happy dance... Smiley

And nothing anybody says or posts is gonna get me fired up because my new attitude in life is I don't give a "f" what anybody else thinks.  The sun is shining and today life is good!

Of course things would be okay if George Bush said something similar to Obama. It just depends on who uses the shorthand...which it is and was in both cases. Of course Tea Partiers are beside themselves. No fair! we weren't there with bad advice......

With all due respect Charlie, wow!

I would love to hear about your personal experience with so called Tea Partiers. What did you see at the meetings? Who were the speakers, exactly what did they say?

If you are curious about us folks, just ask. I'll be glad to tell about the multi-ethnic makeup of both the crowd and at the podium. I can tell you first hand about the manners, general decorum displayed by the crowds. The bulk of the conversation is about getting budgets under control in order to help the middle class survive and trying to discern what the founders meant when framing the Constitution.

I know, I know - pretty radical stuff.......

The only time I see trouble is when the shills are outed. Folks show up in buses carrying weird signs but they don't stay long. Some media clowns invariably show up at the same time to get some footage. Then they all leave at the same time and the meeting continues.

Again, I can only speak from my own personal experience in attending many Tea Party gatherings in four states so far - more to come I assure you.

I sincerely invite you to tell me about your opinion of us and how you arrived at that opinion.

Respectfully,
Marc

Ronald Reagan's conservative wave was what the Tea Party isn't. A true coalition. North, south, east and west right wingers, former Democrats, intellectuals and Blue Dogs....the center. You cannot win elections without bringing along a big chunk of the conservative center. Tea Partiers need to be more than a big tent for anger.

I think of Tea Partiers as having a Palin wing which is kind of neo conservative and a Paulite wing looking to reduce our footprint in the world and taking us back, far back.

It's my take for now anyway.

Have to agree with that Brew. But today, people simply pick and chose what "news" to pay attention to. This is fairly new.

News used to be news, now it's where one goes to learn what's wrong with the other side.

We are mistaking media for reality.

This might seem a little simple but...why would they kill an armed or unarmed Bin Laden?  No pics,  no body.  I'm probably wrong but maybe he ain't as dead as they say.  I wouldn't whack him,  he's much too valuable.

It remains to be seen what will happen, now that this American promise appears to have been fulfilled. One down, thousands to go.

268,000 jobs created in April, best in 5 years

WASHINGTON - American companies are on a hiring spree.

Businesses delivered a jolt of strength to the economy by creating 268,000 jobs in April, the biggest monthly total in more than five years. The gains were solid across an array of industries, even beleaguered construction.

It was the third month in a row of at least 200,000 new jobs. The private sector has added jobs for 14 consecutive months. Even a slight rise in the unemployment rate to 9 percent appears to be a quirk. The job growth was better than economists expected and perhaps the strongest sign yet that what they call a "virtuous cycle" has taken hold: When people spend more, corporate earnings rise, leading to more hiring and then more spending.

THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION -- APRIL 2011

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 244,000 in April, and the private sector added 268,000 jobs.

Employment in both state government and local government continued to trend down, with April losses concentrated in the non-educational components.

April 2009 - 519,000 jobs lost

April 2011 - 244,000 jobs added

but things don't always proceed in a continuous straight line.

Current unemployment rate (as of January 2011) : 9.0%

same as January, right now.

that's some elated article

Now just when I think the news can't get any more ridiculous about analyzing Ben Laden's death - they go and top themselves.

I NOW know the contents of Ben Laden's MEDICINE CABINET... now that's something I've been staying up nights wondering about!!!!!

Are these people f'n NUTZ... the contents of his medicine cabinet for goodness sakes??? Where's Walter Cronkite and 30 minutes of NEWS when you need it...

But I guess now my life is complete -- I now know the contents of Ben Laden's medicine cabinet...  Roll Eyes
