A great day today
May 7th, 2011 at 8:43pm

Just got back to the inllaws from Greenville SC.  My middle son Rob graduated from Bob Jones University today and was commissioned in the USMC.  The Lt Colonel that Rob served under, and worked with very closely, in Iraq flew down from Chicago on his own to swear Rob in.  He had some very nice things to say about him, which sure made his mom and Grandparents very proud.  (Not to mention his dad! Smiley)  We need a smiley that is busting buttons with pride!  His mother and his wife pinned on his bars and  his younger brother, Mike, (who just made Corporal) gave him his first salute.  In all it was a very beautiful ceremony, and I could not be prouder!  I've been blessed with awesome kids, and I dont' mind bragging about them.  Cool

To add icing to the cake, one of his good friends from down here in Greenville is a WW2 Army veteran that served in the "Big Red One" 1st Division.  He went ashore on D-Day plus 6 in Normandy and fought with them all the way through France and Germany, including the Bulge.  It turns out that he and my father-in-law were good frineds in college after the war, and had not seen each other since Mr Mack graduated in 1950.  I got to learn about WW2 from one who was there and my FiL got to get reaquanted with an old friend.

I could go on, but I'll quit before this gets filed under the book category. Wink  Hopefully I'll get to put up a couple of pics after I get home next week.

One very proud Dad!
Jerry

Jerry,  The pride you have in all of your children is palpable.  When I see you in person and you talk about your sons in the Marines, you fairly glow.  I hope they see that pride as much as we do.
