is this cluster headache ?
Jul 3rd, 2011 at 3:34am

Hello all,

I am computer programmer and I am new to CH. I am suffering with headaches from past 10 years and in recent years it is worse. Five years back I went to an ENT doctor and he he did sinus surgery which doesn't help me at all. Then after a few months I contacted different ENT doctors to double check the sinusitis. Every one said, I have no sinus issues and every thing is clear. After that I consult EYE specialist and every thing is good here too. Later I consult neurologist and had Brain MRI and EEG, MRI is OK but got EEG positive. The doctor said, I have seizure activity and she guessed the headaches are might be due to the seizure activity. I started having Enchorate Chrono 300mg for 6 months but it doesn't help me.

I tried Migraine Medicines also but no relief.

A few days before I checked with an ENT specialist who is my friend's friend. He said, it looks like cluster headache. I am not sure whether it is a cluster or migraine.
I came to here to know whether my headache is cluster …, if so any remedies ,...

Here are my symptoms,
1) When I wake up in the morning, I do have sharp headache and after had the brush I feel a bit relief. But night sleep is fine no disturbences
2) I always in a dull mood, feel forehead heavy in 24X7 360 days of an year, only feel healthy 5 days or so during the year.
3) The sharp pain starts at my eyebrows, center of the eyebrows and eventually expand to the forehead and temples.
4) Every day I get very painful headache between 2 PM to 6PM, after 6 PM, it gets down but I feel very tired.
5) To escape from the pain during the 2PM to 6 PM, I need to sleep else I cant work at all due to the eye pain. After wake up from the afternoon sleep , sometimes I feel good with out pain but some times mild pain is there. but the dull mood continues.
6) During the headache I cant see the computer monitor and cant think right. I feel, eye lids heavy, eye blink causes pain behind the eyes and eyebrows.
7) Sometimes, Suddenly I do get a lot of sneezes with watering nose. The only way to stop them is sleep. I don't think it is related to cold or sinus.
8) Apart from the seviour pain, I do have mild pain at the eyebrows and forehead for 10 hours through out the day. It is bearable but the quality of life is worst.

I hope you guys will help me to identify my headache

Thanks

While we share your pain and will help when it's appropriate--we cannot diagnose. Your medical situation is complex, requiring close work with your neurologist.

If it's possible, seek a headache specialist. Many neurologists have so little training & experience with complex disorders that you would benefit from this special experience.

IF you have Cluster, there are a good range of medications to both abort attacks and others which reduce the frequency/severity of attacks. But the interaction with other possible brain issues must be resolved first.

There are a number of disorders which appear to be Cluster but which are not headache disorders. Because they mimic Cluster they can mislead doctors in making a correct diagnosis and, therefore, treating you effectively.

Talk to the neurologist about finding a specialist and let us know how things develop.

I have to agree with Bob. In the meantime, have you taken the cluster quiz on the left menu? It is not a diagnosis, but does list the most commonly experienced traits of a cluster headache. The quiz will help you create a list of where, when and how it hurts to bring with you on your appointment. Just reading your symptoms, they do not sound to me as consistent as what most of us experience. But again, get a good diagnosis. Blessings. lance

Keep us updated, if it's CH, you won't wanna lose this site, if it's not, we may still be able to get you going in a good direction! Wink Good luck, the early part of the diagnostic journey can suck. Embarrassed

Finally, I got rid of my headahces  Smiley

The root cause is Vitamin deficiency. I got very low levels for Vitam D3 (8) and B12 (200). My doctor gave B12 Injections (500 mcg) for 45 days and vitamin d3 sachets for 2 weeks.I started feeling better after 2 weeks of taking the B12 and D3 supplements. Now almost all of my pain/headache symptoms gone Smiley
I just want to share this Information to all of you so that it will be helpful to other people with same symptoms

Take a second, go to the medications section, and read the link "123 pain free days and i think I know why"

It's a link suggesting a daily supplement of Vitamin D-3, magnesium, calcium, and zinc. People are obtaining various degrees of relief using it, some going pain free, some seeing reductions in number and intensity of their attacks.

Sounds like you might be one who would benefit from this approach. So glad you found relief from your attacks.

I am NOT diagnosing anyone either, but pain most of the time, cannot escape the pain except by going to sleep, never disturbing your sleep, etc.... all says they are NOT clusters to me. Glad to hear that you went to a doctor and that the VIT D3 has helped you.

Best Wishes
