This is double cool
Jul 10th, 2011 at 8:23am

Washington, D.C.) - Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus today named John Bebee of Lewistown his "Montana Hero of the Day" for his outstanding efforts to help his neighbors in Lewistown through the 2011 flooding disaster

Although Bebee's own home was safe from floodwaters, he went right to work volunteering to stack sandbags in the neighborhoods most affected by flooding in Lewistown. He's been pitching in with flood recovery efforts every day since mid-May.

"No one needed to ask John to get involved - he saw the need and snapped into action. John has been a vocal advocate for flood recovery efforts in his community and I've appreciated his work to keep the unique needs of Lewistown on the front burner.  He's also walking the talk every day by helping provide immediate help by sandbagging neighborhoods most seriously impacted by the rising floodwaters. John is the kind of neighbor we all want to have and I'm pleased to recognize him as our Montana Hero of the Day," Baucus said.

Last Friday, Baucus announced a Major Presidential Disaster Declaration for the state of Montana, making federal resources available for county, local and tribal governments and private nonprofit organizations that are responding to recent flooding. Baucus is also urging Montana communities facing any trouble applying for disaster assistance to contact his office for help right away.

Baucus is encouraging people across the state to share their stories of Montanans going above and beyond the call of duty to help each other through the flooding disaster by commenting on his Facebook page: Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register
