Just Started Cycle Again...Anything New?
Jul 19th, 2011 at 1:56am

What a warm, comforting feeling to see all of you still here!  My last cycle was 2 years ago beginning on Thursday July 13, 2009...this cycle started on Thursday July 14, 2011, both times at @11:00 PM.  Of course, I was surprised, again, because I always think it is the last cycle I will ever have (haha) even after 20+ years.  I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for scripts.  I'm still okay right now since it is the first week.  It is the 4th-6th weeks that get me down.  Mine lasts 8 weeks and I have already marked the celebration day on my calendar.

Just saying hello and thanks for being here!  I'll be around for 8 weeks and will try to not be gone so long in between next time.  I have referred several people to this site.  It is a life saver!!!

Again, thanks for being here!!!

Sorry to see you back, but glad you're here! Sort of the standard greeting for episodics who try to forget their troubles when off cycle. There probably are some new thoughts if you have been off line for two years. Check out Batch's 123 days pain free and I think I know why. Also, if you aren't clear on the O2 high flow usage, read about that. We've found slamming a taurine/caffeine energy drink just before or just as the hit begins, coupled with high flow O2, can dramatically reduce duration and rebound. Just a few thoughts. Troll the site and see what comes up. Blessings. lance

Thanks, Wimsey and Guiseppi!  It is not good to be back, but it is good to connect with everyone!  I have sent a PM and read Batch's posts.  O2 will be here Friday @15L/m.  I'm sure I will have more questions.

Thanks again!

My first post since about 2001

I was fighting the BEAST all my life. IMITREX was my savior. However, when I lost my job in 2001 I had horded 58 boxes (2 injections in it as you know). When the beast struck again in 2003 I got by with what I had and some hand sample hand outs from my doctor.

18 months later, still with no job (by the way I am 64 now) I got the early warnings. In lieu of insurance I felt really depressed. But thinking about CLUSTERS being caused by INFLAMMATION of the veins between the skin and the skull, I started to take 4 IBUPROFEN pills, 3 times a day. After 4 days all symptoms were gone. I kept on taking 4 IBU for almost 2 month, 3 times a day, then I cut back to 2 times and after another month or so to just one time.

My cluster periods usually ran for about 4 months and came back 14 to 15 months later. Ever since, when I feel the early symptoms, I get on the IBU thing again.

And I have not had a single attack of the BEAST ever since the end of 2003.

Just my experience

You may try it, it will not kill you. But it sure helped me.

Glad it's working for you. I did the same thing 34 years ago when these started, and all it did was agitate my stomach. Still, pain free is the way to go. lance

Hey Mackie, great to hear you've found relief but do be careful with the NSAIDS, they will play havoc with your tummy! My dad ended up with ulcerated stomach and bladder from over use. I understand the lack of insurance can be a real barrier to some of the more effective treatments.

If you haven't checked out our sister site, give it a quick read. I've had close friends on the board, chronic for whom EVERYTHING  had stopped working, who went pain free going this route.

Wishing you peace and some pain free time!
