Anthony,  whenever I am having a cycle I experience the same.  My neck shoulder and middle of back area get tight and pull.  I have even gone for massage therapy and it hasn't changed much.

The good ole clusterlump heehee
It seems like many of us get a knot or a cluster of ganglions on our necks and sometimes shoulders. Mine is on right side base of skull under ear and is a joy to massage. Sometimes when shadowing I can feel the pain drain with light massage on it.

I can't believe that I have to bang my Head against this wall again. But the blows they have just a little more Space in-between them. Gonna take a breath and try again.

I apply ice to mine during a hit.  It sometimes helps a great deal!

I experience the exact same thing, in the exact same spot, that is why streatching the head, neck and arms in any way imaginable is so important at the onset of a ch.  It can often stop them before they get evil.
