A reminder
Aug 14th, 2011 at 11:28am

I recieved a call that my best friend since 2nd. grade just died suddenly.   Her husband said it was Hypoxia.  Because she lives in So. Calif. and I live here now we only see each other about once a year.  We have the sort of relationship where we can pick up on each others lives by phone as if no time had passed in between, but last week I realized I hadn't talked to her for a couple of months and reminded myself to give her a call.  One thing after another came up and I didn't make that call.

If you love someone and haven't let them know that for a while don't wait.  No one can predict the cure-balls life throws at us.  I know my friend DeeDee knew I loved her, but I'm crying and  kicking myself for not making that call.

My condolences, Linda. Went through the same type of thing while at the convention in Nashville this year - got the notification on the way down.

Lots of serious self-ass-kicking that goes on.

Sorry for your loss Linda - sadly life does get in the way at times and our best intentions sometimes go by the wayside.  I'm sure your friend knew that you cared.

Too many good people leaving us lately.  I can only hope there are new wonderful people being born to balance the loss.

So sorry Linda, I feel your pain.

Linda, I'm so sorry for you loss... Smiley

For a similar reason I decided to begin "Girls' Tuesdays" a year ago. Now on most Tuesdays my nearest and dearest friends gather to my home for a few hours. We talk, laugh and catch up.

Naturally, not everyone makes it every week, but I don't expect them to.I didn't want life to get in a way of our friendship, that's why I begun that new tradition. It will be interesting to see what happends when we all have kids one day! But, for now, "The Tuesday Club" is doing fine and starts its Fall meetings this week. Smiley

Jim and I are going to fly to Ca. for the funeral.  We're leaving Wed. evening and renting a car for the week.

I thank you all so much for your kind words.  Right about now I seem to be running on empty and in a daze.  O.K. MORE of a daze than usual for me.

For those of you who know how VERY much I hate the hassle of flying...This is going to be a killer for me.

Thank you again and don't forget to call or visit the people you love and let them know how much you care about them.  It could be the last time you see them. Cry

Linda,
Knowing you as I do I KNOW she knows she was loved whether or not you told her recently.  Don't lay a guilt trip on yourself for not saying so in a while.  In a perfect world we would all keep in touch with everyone we love all the time, but we allow life to get in the way.  What you are dealing with is the loss of getting a chance to say "Goodbye", and that is always difficult for us all.

Just last week I got an opportunity to reconnect with one of my best friends that I had lost contact with due to family problems (his family) about 15 years ago.  We picked up right where we had left off, but the next day I got word that another very close friend of many years passed away.  She had had Alzheimers for ten years, so I didn't get to have any contact with her for all that time.  (She lived 750 miles away)  "Ms Fannie" knew she was loved though, even though we didn't get to tell her. I'll miss her as long as I live, as I have for the last 10 years, but I treasure the time I had rather than dwelling on the lack of a goodbye.

I'm sending a virtual hug from Linda and me.  We'll be praying for you and Jim as you go back to CA.

Jerry

So sorry for your loss.  Praying for a safe trip and a pain free one as well as feeling a sence of comfort as only the great comforter can bring.  Glad that you are able to make the funeral.
