First off, Thank you...

This board introduced me to O2 after fighting the CH demon for about 20 years with everything from warm showers to nasal spray to energy drinks.  O2 aborted everything during the last week (after finally getting it) of my last cycle almost two years ago.  I'm in the middle of another cycle, very manageable by past standards, and very thankful to have the O2 ready when needed.  So, Thank you...

Secondly, I heard that 23andme (the genetic mapping company) claimed to have isolated the CH gene.  A cursory glance through their site seems to validate this claim, in that CH appears in their list of detectable traits.  Has anyone tried this yet?  I ordered kits a few days ago for myself and my kids, so they can be forewarned if they have that unfortunate gene.  I'm also not 100% convinced of their method, as it seems to rely on feedback and survey, and I'm not an expert in the field by any stretch.  Anyone have any info on the potential genetic link to CH misery?

The web site page for this is Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

However note the info on the right hand side of the page:

Quote:
Who                     Genotype  What It Means
Greg Mendel (Dad)      GG       Typical odds of cluster headaches.
AG       Slightly lower odds of cluster headaches.
AA       Moderately lower odds of cluster headaches.

What this is saying is that even though there is a genetic marker for CH, not having the marker does not exclude someone getting CH, it just lowers the odds.

This means that there are multiple causes for CH, at least one being genetic and at least one not being genetic.
