Very nervous ...
Aug 17th, 2011 at 8:31pm

Hello, I've only recently (In the past week or so,) endured extremely painful headaches, but they go away quickly. The longest I've had one was maybe a few minutes.

I've read a bit about cluster headaches, but I'd rather get information on them from people who definitely suffer from the problem.

I'm sixteen years old, and I'm not even sure I have the problem. I'm just very scared, and if any of you can alleviate these fears, I'd very much appreciate it.

The first extremely painful headache I had was just a few days ago, and it happened again yesterday. Almost at the exact same time, during my 3rd period class. And after, I have a pain behind my eyes. These headaches are very short, but extremely painful. They leave me very exhausted.

I don't want to be a cliche, whiny teenager, but I'm honestly scared this will happen again. Please, any information on this would really help. Thank you.

Also, I took the cluster quiz. Only one of the questions from 1-8 were a yes. Only two of the questions from 9-16 were no. Getting increasingly nervous ...

Headaches, especially sudden onset headaches, require an immediate trip to the doctor, with hopefully a referral to a headache specialist neurologist.

What you're describing doesn't sound like classic CH, but in the early stages, CH does not always follow the consistent pattern we see in established cases. While internet research is sometimes useful, and I applaud your initiative in grabbing the bull by the horns, this really is a time to let a doctor check things out. There are hundreds of headache types, many which mimic each other, this is a time when an expert is a really good idea.

Wishing you a speedy diagnosis and an effective treatment regimen.

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

I see. Thank you, I really appreciate the help. I'll ask a doctor about it as soon as I can.

Thanks again.
