Quick survival list that comes to mind, certainly not all-inclusive as I can't remember everything but some things on this list should be of use when in emergency situation, good luck to all of you in Irene's path...

1. flashlights, headlights, radio, walkie-talkies, lantern w/ hanger,
2. batteries...all sizes applicable...D, AA, ?...solar battery charger?
3. first aid...bandages, gauze, meds, tape, alcohol, scissors, etc
4. water, tablets, filter
5. canned foods
6. manual can opener, utensils
7. fuel to cook...Coleman fuel, charcoal, propane, lighter fluid
8. grill, stove, bbq, cast iron pots/pans, pressure cooker???
9. gasoline...enough to drive out of town to ?
10. ziploc, trash bags, heavy duty foil, tupperware, TP, paper towels, kleenex
11. sturdy shoes/boots, jeans, belts, flannel shirts, work gloves
12. winter coats, seasonal clothing such as thermals
13. sleeping bags, sleeping pads, wool blankets
14. tent, stakes, tarp, poles
15. maps...local, state, regional, U.S.A atlas
16. emergency contact...addresses/phone #'s, account #'s
17. backpack, dufflebags
18. watch
19. binoculars
20. lighters, water/windproof matches, firestarter, candles
21. jumper cables, tire jack, fix a flat, spare tire, tools
22. prescription meds, Pepcid, neosporin, gauze, thermometer, tweezers, scissors, hydrogen peroxide, cotton balls, qtips, antihistamines, laxatives, advil, aspirin, medicine to induce vomiting, ACE bandage, ice packs, toothache, sunblock, cough syrup, lozenges,
23. duct tape, rope, safety pins,
24. tools-pliers, hammer, nails, screwdrivers,
25. paper plates, bowls, plastic cups & utensils
26. multi-purpose tool/knife
27. N95 masks and gloves-latex, vinyl or the best yet is Nitrile
28. Purell hand sanitizer, toothbrush/paste, deoderent, baby wipes, shampoo
29. shaving cream, razors
30. Gun, ammo, bat
31. paper, pencils, sharpie markers, notebooks, reading books, dice, cards
32. clothes pins, line
33. fire extinguishers, large boxes of baking soda
34. insulated ice chest
35. insect/pest repellents
36. toilet lid, 5 gallon bucket, lyme, chlorox
37. IDENTIFICATION, birth certificates, cash, important photos, medical/dental/school files, mortgage/lease, insurance policies-health/auto/property/life, auto registration/title, social security, credit reports, tax records,
