J. Fletcher drew this about 10 yrs. ago.  I hate tattoes but if I was going to have one regarding CH...this would be it !!!   it says it all.   I am not certain if he ever copywrited this or not,  but you get the picture.  I can imagine someone with this tat on their arm, pulling up his sleeve to show what this horror we go thru really LOOKS like.

If you substitute the words "right to copy" for "copyright" in the following, it helps explain it:

Quote:
Here's the thing about copyright law: A creator holds the copyright for any piece they've created the moment it is created.

Whether or not that copyright is registered is up to the legal owner of that copyright. And whether or not it's registered has no legal bearing on its existence. That person or entity still owns the copyright.

Here's how it would read:
Quote:
Here's the thing about "right to copy" law: A creator holds the "right to copy" for any piece they've created the moment it is created.

Whether or not that "right to copy" is registered is up to the legal owner of that "right to copy." And whether or not it's registered has no legal bearing on its existence. That person or entity still owns the "right to copy."

Another way to look at it is this: the right to copy a piece of art belongs to the artist (or their designee) whether or not it is registered.

If you're going to get something tattooed on you, it'd be best for you to have the owner's permission.

I totally agree Bill, which is why I put that there.  J. Fletchers picture is all over the internet however.   He donated a few pieces of his artwork (this one included)  at the aucttion in Atlanta in 2000 I believe.

I'd be happy to find out that he has no objection to it being used though.  It's an awesome drawing.   No one has heard from him in a while.    Undecided

This may not relate but just why have tattoos become such a craze over the last couple decades?

I have no idea but then it would never occur to me to get one. I don't see many among my boomer friends for that matter.

I hear ya Charlie.  Most boomers have a tat that says something like U.S.M.C.   or MOM.   Last week I sat next to a very obese, smelly woman on a plane from L.A. who had Tat  sleeves, tats down her neck, tats down her legs and feet and her tats all said something to the effect of F-you.   I was not happy sitting next to her for 4 hours.

P-funk...I am certainly not saying you have offensive ink...just saying that some of us really don't "get it" when we see some that do.

I have never seen a tattoo which I would frame and hang on my wall, so why would I have it permanently inscribed on my body?

I'm with Charlie, I just don't get it.

But I'm also of the live and let live variety, so have at it, if you want one!

Tattooing is a form of body beautification, and spiritual or tribal rites of passage that has existed since before recorded history.

It certainly isn't a new craze in any way.

I think THIS is more what Charlie had in mind Pegg when he said he doesn't get it.  Centuries ago it did not look like this:

I don't get it either.  The woman sitting next to me on the plane looked somewhat  like several of these combined.

It took me 40 yrs to get my 1st and only tattoo which is located on my chest and I have no regrets.

I believe a tattoo is extremely personal and must have personal meaning to that individual getting inked, otherwise it will be most likely be a future regret.

A CH tattoo would certainly be extremely rare, personal and w/ plenty of meaning for any of us

I personally would not choose a tattoo of anything CH related, as CH's have destroyed most aspects of my life and would not want the constant reminder, especially when in remission.

The only time I want to concentrate on CH's is to educate myself and others and of course to be supportive to others afflicted.

Other than that, CH's are a living nightmare, the worst experience of my life, and certainly not on my Top 10 list for a life-long reminder placed on my body.

Just curious...if you were to get a CH tattoo, where would you mar your skin...would you ink your eye-lid?  forehead?  neck?  scalp?

"to each his own" and if you do choose to do it, please post your proud photo Cool

I am going to get my Imitrex injection bruises permanently tatted in place.  My left arm looks like a heroin addicts.

I agree with Charlie that things have ramped up a bit in the tat space.  Up to the individuals, but there are a lot of sorry-assed meaningless tats around these days.

Contrast that to high-end tats, aka the works of art you see on LA Ink and the like.  A good tat artist has magic.

I'm not a fan of needles, but that has not stopped me from thinking about getting a tattoo every now and then. I don't have one, because of that fear and because I'm wasn't entirely sure which topic to choose.

These days if I'd get a tattoo, it would definitely be ch related, no doubts about that. But I'm not in a hurry to get one, though.

I'm an old fashioned guy. To me there is nothing decorative about a tattoo. It used to be that they were found on sailors that got drunk enough for a "Mom" or anchors and the like. It was nothing like what we find today.

I guess it's the lastest thing now. However, have some makeup ready to cover up all the artsy stuff running up and down your neck and foreams when applying for a job.

That's just the way it is.

Charlie, whenl I got out of Marine Advanced Infantry training at Camp Pendleton in 64 a group of us went down to Oceancide to get drunk and have devil dogs tattooed on our arms......got plenty drunk and it didn't really look like it was botherin the guys that got em that bad.....but, for some reason I just couldn't get my head around the "forever" part of it and opted out......never regretted it and never had any inkling of a desire to get one since!!

....evidently help is hard to find here in Dallas though, cause I see folks with tats workin in lots of places.....probably as many women as men!!!

The employment part comes from stuff I've read over the years. The gist usually involves employers who, at least initially, say that they will likely favor persons without tattoos.

Perhaps my dislike of tattoos comes from the kind of stuff I see worn by young people. I don't get most of the art I see there.

God I sound older by the hour..... Cool

Well.  Maybe I should never have started this linkas it seems that I have gotten nothing but negative,"I don't like them" responses. For those of you who can't see why someone would have one, in 2000 my Dad died and I got the Italian flag on my chest with his name, I have my family crest on my shoulder, my mom's fam is Irish so i've got 4 leaved clover and my son's name thus evry one has meaning as would a CH TAT which would would honor the many years of pain and suffering that I have gone through as well as honoring my CH family
