Need help on taking O2 with me

Just got my O2 bottle here at home and i am very happy to report that it is working great. it is working within 5 minutes to quash a headache. my problem is i can't get a small bottle from the O2 place because of the LPM's that i have been prescribed?? I realize that there is only 25 minutes of air @ 15LPM in one of those bottles but to me its at least 2-4 fixes for me and would allow me to go more places with my children for longer times.

yesterday i found a O2 bottle from a friend that had one in their garage. can i just find the proper fittings and fill that small one with my big tank at home till the psi gets two low. i figure when i can't get at least 10 mins worth of air in the little bottle i will just call my supplier and have come replace my big bottle at home. any ideas or direction?? thanks Nate

Nate - I have O2 everywhere I go. I have an E tank in my office, one in my car, extras in my garage at home and then my two concentrators in my bedroom. I'm not sure if you are referring to a smaller tank thank an E so I cannot help you in that area. My regulator only goes to 8LPM on the E's which is still better than nothing in a time of need.

I am going through Option Care and they say that this 100lb/5 foot bottle is the smallest bottle i can have for my prescribed 7LPM a minute(of course i have cranked the regulator up to 15).

I would think that if your doctor wrote the prescription "AS NEEDED" (PRN), your durable medical goods supplier would have no leg to stand on if you asked them for a portable option.

Hi Nate...welcome to the club noone wants to be a member of. But you are home...you won't find this family's support, knowledge, compassion or understanding anywhere else.....

I have sorta the opposite problem. My provider's largest tank is an E (Lincare). I would prefer M's. I get 10 E's at a time, one in car, one in the office, the rest in my home hallway. Lincare understands my needs. I love my green buddies.

What your provider is saying is lame and WRONG...sounds like they don't want to make the extra effort to provide enough E's for your needs.

The good news is that there is a Lincare office in Mount Vernon. Right next to the freeway...I think it's called Freeway Drive, a mile or two south of Kincaid. Not too far away from Anacortes...especially considering we're talking O2!

I called Lincare (Thanks Jon) and with one minor change in the wording with my prescription from the doctor and they will give me whatever i want tank size wise. Opition Care didn't have a clue and gave me a bunch of incorrect information. I go in to Lincare on Monday and I may find that they don't do the big botttles there also but thats ok I can just keep Option Care for their one contribution. Good day.

skyhawk, that just happen to me also. dropped off my script for Imetrex and when i picked them up went home to find out that they are the refill inserts. this would have been fine if i had the case that is used to dispense them. called pharmacy and couldn't get the case because i just left with my month supply of 4 shots. 4, really i can only have a 4 hits a month, wow. have to wait 20 days or pay 300 bucks of my own money. thankfully my doctor gave me some fancy needle-less samples at my visit. if i stay close to my O2 i may not even need one, we will see.

Hey Nate,

Another CH'er in the Puget Sound area... Monday is likely a non-starter for Lincare even if they do have what you need... If they don't, Apria up in Bellingham carries E-size, the aluminum M and M60s... I gave up on the E-size and used an M60 as my roadie that I purchased and refilled from the M's I used to get with a transfiller pigtail...

If you own your regulator and mask, the cost of home oxygen contents is a lot less...

You'll notice the past tense when I referred to my oxygen cylinders... I haven't needed them since last October when I started the anti-inflammatory regimen and went pain free the second day... Still Pain free... and the cost of the regimen runs around 20 cents a day...
