I'm only off Topamax for a few weeks, and my cycle season isn't until October, normally. Since Irene has passed, the weather has been steady with no barometric pressure issues. Yet, I have been awakened at 3AM the last few nights with some big hits, and also have had pain in the morning and later at night. This means I have had virtually no down time from my cycles. Anyone else having an early hit this year? I know we're all different, but maybe there are some similarities.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Mike. Any cycle sucks, new or not, early or late...is it possible it is related to the titration of topamax? I know when I started to titrate off verapamil I went from one or two hits a week back to getting hit every day. It might be different for episodics though. Hang in there and get pf soon. Blessings. lance

Thanks, Lance. I don't think it's from that. I tapered for 8 weeks from 200mg down to 25, and had no issue and no issue for a couple weeks after. In fact, generally, even at 50 or 100mg, I'd have pain, which is why I go to 200mg to kill the beast. Eh, I guess it is what it is.

It's great to have others who understand. When you say "headache" people think, "yeah, whatever, big deal". but, no one really knows. I don't truly know, since I have had very few bad attacks like others describe here, but I'll tell you, misery loves company, and it's comforting to come here whenever I'm in cycle to see how others are faring and what they do to cope, even if it's just talking about it.

Sounds like you I are experiencing close to the same thing this year.  I usually get two cycles per year in April and October.  My April cycle lasted until mid-May and then I got hit with a rogue cycle in June which lasted through July.  Then my autumn cycle came over a month early about two weeks ago.  And this one is particularly nasty with multiple night hits and alternating sides.  Never had that happen before - at least not mid-cycle.

Something is definitely weird this year.

I may be having a "light" cycle with really bad hits from the weather changes, which is definitely in line with my history. Also, we've had so much rain and craziness with the pressure changes, I'm not surprised I'm suffering this much. ON a clear day, no rain, and no clouds, I'm pretty good all day, then just get a mild hit at night. On the rainy days, whipping changes in weather, etc. I am just awful around the clock.

I'm fortunate, the old barometer has never been a trigger for me. Been a really tough year for those prone to the weather change attacks. Sad
