CH: Numb, tingling, swollen face
Sep 21st, 2011 at 5:24pm

hi,
i've been getting debilitating headaches for 2 years now. they are one sided, my eye waters and swells and the whole one side of my face does too when i have the headache. the one side feels numb and tingling. does anyone else have this with their Cluster headaches? i am at my wits end--have had a CH for the last week with little relief. the neurologist doesnt think the swelling is related to the headache but that is the only time it happens! hope to hear from someone if they have the same symptom. ....:/

Hi and welcome. You have come to the right place!
I would say it sounds pretty classic CH. Does your nose plug on that side too?
I guess I am having a problem here... you have a neurologist that diagnosed you with CH? And, he thinks this has nothing to do with CH? What treatment does he have for you?
Sorry for all the questions... more info coming.

Yeah, I have to second the question: have you been diagnosed with CHs? By this same neuro? Cuz if you have, and he/she doesn't recognize what you describe as part of the syndrome, what caused him to diagnose CHs to begin with? As to the swelling. You mean like a grapefruit? Or like something has irritated things and you're having a reaction to it? I ask because apart from the droopy eyelid, and tearing, and pain...I was always amazed that my face didn't look worse than it did at the peak of a hit. How could it hurt so bad and look so more or less normal? What preventatives and abortives are you using? Look forward to hearing more from you. Blessings. lance
