SCHOOL REUNION TONIGHT...
Sep 23rd, 2011 at 6:04am

Gladewater is having it's annual All School Reunion this weekend and it's gonna be a blast. The class of '61 is in charge of it and they're going all out.

tonight we're having a "Sock Hop" - I've got my jeans, white shirt, bobby socks, and even Bill's class ring (have to be going steady now don't I?). thinking about spraying the old body with WD-40 so I'll have the "moves".  Smiley

Then Saturday night OUR class ('62) gets passed the "baton" and it's our turn to "start" planning next year's reunion (like we haven't been working on it for a year now already). We've always (for over 50 years) been "vicious" competitors with the class of '61 so we're planning to outdo anything they put on this year - all in fun... yeah right!

Usually the "passing of the baton" is kinda dull, but we've got something in store that is nothing boring this year. We have "banners" ready "Where were YOU in '62"  BIG Banners and we've all got Orange Caps that will be donned at the appropriate time to add a little spice to the affair.

Tomorrow we're having "another" 4th reunion at the lake (one of our classmates has a lake "mansion" - a little 5000 sq foot place on the lake that we use frequently) to "practice" our Legends program that we're doing next year.

My Dolly Parton wig is beautiful (still working on the boobies) and the boots are coming along well (only about a million more rinstones and glitter to install) - Now to find a jacket (about a size 40 with a 22 inch waist -ummm - some alterations may be required on this one).

And Kenny Rogers is in rare form... we're still trying to decide whether to pop the boobies or put helium in them and let them float away after "Islands in the Stream".. I still can't believe this guy was "dull" in high school...  Roll Eyes

Anyhow ya'll have a good weekend cause I'm gonna have a great one..

Luv ya all.. Kiss

Well, I made it thru the sock hop and it was a blast and a half.. this morning I'm wondering about the "moves" I made last night..(twist, stroll, jitterbug, etc) Smiley but it seemed like a good idea last night.

Ran into my "true love" from the 4th grade (haven't seen him since 1960) and he's still walking and has all his teeth. Smiley We took piano from the same piano teacher and my ambition was to get good enough to play a duet with him at recital - told his wife - I worked up to "lousy" but never got good enough to play with him - he was really good.

Then (and this is sad, but not really) there is this autistic kid - well he's 30 and a sweetheart - who loves to dance (he doesn't talk real well) and this "mentally challenged" girl who was on the floor dancing by herself. JP was going around trying to get someone to dance with him and everyone was ignoring him and I just couldn't stand to see him disappointed so I grabbed him and said, "Come on boy, I've been looking for you all night!" We got out on the floor and showed 'em how to do it.

But when we got out there we danced over close to Monica and she was just dancing away and they started dancing together and it was just precious. I was suddenly a wallflower.. Everyone in the place was laughing and about halfway crying. After that they were the most popular kids at the "hop"... I don't think either of them sat out a dance..

But I'm plumb hoarse from talking (and ya'll know how shy I am) and sore from hugging (some of those guys are still pretty strong), but we had about 300 people there and I think I talked to and hugged them all (the good ones more than once).

And the good part was my Kenny Rogers was there (haven't seen him in years). Our table got him big time. He's still kinda "uptight" and we got to talking about Dolly's boobies and I said, "And Kenny gets to grab a feel!" He turned so red that we just had to egg it on for a while till he was flashing real brightly. Even his wife (who graduated with my little brother) got into the act - she said she'd NEVER seen him that color. Oh, I'm gonna have fun with him.. Roll Eyes

One of the best things -- they had a DJ, but he kept the music low enough that you could actually "talk" over it -- now that's what I remember about the 50s and 60s.

So, I'm getting ready to get off again for another day of fun and games.. Our class is "practicing" to take over the baton for Next Year tonight and start practicing our acts for the "show" we're gonna put on. Even have our Karoke guy coming to our party today. So I guess it's WD-40 and a make-up day again today... Smiley

Thanks for the smiles!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!  Our annual homecoming was this weekend also.  Football game on Friday evening, (we lost  Tongue) Parade on Saturday afternoon, and banquet in the evening.  (No music or dancing this year...not sure why) but at least, like you, didn't have to scream to visit. It will only be 30 years next year for us.  And somehow I usually am involved in the planning and such too.  (Are you talking about the "real" Kenny Rogers? I met a Kenny Rogers at summer camp one year, and always thought it was cool that he had that name) Take care!  Beth

W40 indeed!  Something tells me you did just fine without it.  Thanks for sharing.  Glad you had a good time.

Oh we put on a "show" at the Sat night shindig.. and it's usually boring (especially the part where the "baton is passed) But we put on a show. Our bunch all put on orange (G'water's colors are orange and black) with out little flags (orange) waving and our 20 ft banners and did our class "motto" loudly. We all wore lays and our "acceptor" put on on the "presenter" and told him if he wanted to get layed next year he'd best show up for "our" party.

We did break up the "boredom". Then we passed out lays and had the whole place falling out laughing -- THEY knew the class of 62 had been there.. We expect a "full house" next year.  Cheesy

One lady from the class of 42 commented that she was coming back just to see what we were going to do (and of course to get layed again).

This one guy that I had a date with back in 58 kept finding me and hanging on to me. I kinda thought it was strange, but the next morning I found out WHY. Apparently there were a couple of "singles" hitting on him and he was looking for "protection". A couple of times his timing was "real" good cause I was getting "hit" on when he showed up. We've both had a good laugh about that one. I told him he owed me an "expensive" dinner for my protection of his virtue. Lordy, I had two brothers (in their 80s) trying to fix me up with their brother-in-law (a client of mine). Haven't been hit on that much in a long time. Gave my ego a good boost...  Cool

But now it's back to the real world again and back to "work!"

Now our class goes to work and we've got 12 months to "out-do" the class of 61 and that's going to take some doing cause they did an outstanding job. I did have a great time, but am glad these things only come once a year -- think I need a year to rest up for the next one.. Wink

Hope ya'll had a good weekend. I sure nuff had fun.. Kiss
