Well, I made it thru the sock hop and it was a blast and a half.. this morning I'm wondering about the "moves" I made last night..(twist, stroll, jitterbug, etc)

but it seemed like a good idea last night.
Ran into my "true love" from the 4th grade (haven't seen him since 1960) and he's still walking and has all his teeth.

We took piano from the same piano teacher and my ambition was to get good enough to play a duet with him at recital - told his wife - I worked up to "lousy" but never got good enough to play with him - he was really good.
Then (and this is sad, but not really) there is this autistic kid - well he's 30 and a sweetheart - who loves to dance (he doesn't talk real well) and this "mentally challenged" girl who was on the floor dancing by herself. JP was going around trying to get someone to dance with him and everyone was ignoring him and I just couldn't stand to see him disappointed so I grabbed him and said, "Come on boy, I've been looking for you all night!" We got out on the floor and showed 'em how to do it.
But when we got out there we danced over close to Monica and she was just dancing away and they started dancing together and it was just precious. I was suddenly a wallflower.. Everyone in the place was laughing and about halfway crying. After that they were the most popular kids at the "hop"... I don't think either of them sat out a dance..
But I'm plumb hoarse from talking (and ya'll know how shy I am) and sore from hugging (some of those guys are still pretty strong), but we had about 300 people there and I think I talked to and hugged them all (the good ones more than once).
And the good part was my Kenny Rogers was there (haven't seen him in years). Our table got him big time. He's still kinda "uptight" and we got to talking about Dolly's boobies and I said, "And Kenny gets to grab a feel!" He turned so red that we just had to egg it on for a while till he was flashing real brightly. Even his wife (who graduated with my little brother) got into the act - she said she'd NEVER seen him that color. Oh, I'm gonna have fun with him..
One of the best things -- they had a DJ, but he kept the music low enough that you could actually "talk" over it -- now that's what I remember about the 50s and 60s.
So, I'm getting ready to get off again for another day of fun and games.. Our class is "practicing" to take over the baton for Next Year tonight and start practicing our acts for the "show" we're gonna put on. Even have our Karoke guy coming to our party today. So I guess it's WD-40 and a make-up day again today...
