the pain proves the hope
Sep 23rd, 2011 at 4:58pm

hope trumps.
the beast brings with him pain that seems stronger than everything. nothing can exist with it besides its friends: fear, rage, terror, regret. he slows time, stretching his minutes of torture over hours, days, and on to eternity. his strike seems to connect with the very soul, turning ordinary men and women into beasts like him.  i never lose my temper, but the beast makes me act like him.
hope is stronger than he is. i can feel his anger when i continue to hope, begging God for it to end. that gift that makes him feel as helpless as i do proves to me that he is not ultimate, but God is.
the beast may bring pain, but he cannot destroy hope.  in fact, he proves that hope will always be there, the same as a roadside bomb proves that even an atheist can instinctively call on God.  i know there can be an end to the pain, and i start searching and calling for it as soon as the beast starts calling for me.
don't ever throw away hope.  its one of our greatest gifts.

Can't EVER throw away hope. EVER.

For me, it now has a name: 2-bromo-lysergic acid diethylamide.

It also has a nickname: BOL.

I wish more people knew what promise this holds.

Some day Bill, it will happen. Hopefully in our lifetime. But if not, for sure in our kids.

i cant wait for something better to come out.  its getting hard to manage the CH with things i carry in my assault bag or on my kit.  i really cant wait to be back home and finally get to try oxygen.
i can say this though, this deployment has helped me cope with CH more effectively.  i cant really say its been easy though...
im tired, but still hopeful.

AubanBird, I can't imagine dealing with CH while on deployment. I pray that you find some relief and make it home soon. Thank you for all that you do.

Nicely said, AubanBird. Like you, I have found faith and hope go together quite nicely. I think these are two of the most prevailing characteristics of this board. Perhaps it is true of all who suffer and endure, as opposed to those who suffer and cannot or will not endure. We will "end" and with that will come an ultimate cessation to our pain. Meanwhile, our true character is forged here and now, while we all are deployed to a land that is not our own. Be safe, keep your head down, come home. God bless. lance
