IGNORANCE dont let others bring you down..
Oct 8th, 2011 at 9:21pm

My headaches started again on the 1st of August.. though my cycle is the same as others i think ...the pain days ..some are worst than others good days bad days nothing new .....anyway...yesterday i was woken up by a headache at around 5am in really bad pain so i took a sumitriptan straight away and the aloowed 35 to 40 mins for the tablet to take effect if i was lucky ..but it wasnt to be so i ended up going to the hospital for O2 as that really helps me when the pain is that bad .....as i dont yet have O2 at home ...anyway on the way to the hospital i wasnt given any O2 and in the hospital they didnt give me any O2 but instead made me wait 2 hours in A+E to be seen by the nurse.... but by that time the pain had eased off to a level 2 pushing on 3 quite mild .....i wanted to leave as i was frustrated but my frustration made me stay there to find out why my level of care was dealt with the way it was....so i asked her and she said blah blah blah protocol this and Sats that ....so i learnt a lesseon not to really on no one but yourself when it comes to this illness.....im still quite frustrated though when i think back to it as it shook my confidence in the way i am handling things and the steps i am taking but thats a good things trial and error ......at least now i know to stand up and say what i need to say when i need to say it in all circumstances as it is my life and if i let others dictate my situation then the less controll i have over my options ........keep living life positve and pf days await and when they do i will make sure im prepared that little bit better for the next cycle ..... Imitrex tablets... a good way to suffer.
Get the injections.  Relief 10x faster, most times before the hit ramps up.

Besides what Lobster said, I'll add..

Going to the ER=another good way to suffer. And spend money for nothing.  And be frustrated in the process.

You'd be better off going to a local fire station for 02.

Why do you only have the tablets?

Ask your GP to look in his BNF under 4.7.4.3  what the recommended treatments are for CH are and read it out to you. It will say  "Imigran injection (Sumatriptan) - subcutaneous injection and O2" - not tables. The only reason they prescribe the tablets is purely down to COST. Insist on having the medication that you are entitled to.

Why don't you call the OUCH(UK) helpline - number below - for further help and advice. Leave your landlline number and somebody will get back to you.
