Camping, cold, and no HA.
Oct 9th, 2011 at 11:48am

Last night I went camping with my son. I'm in cycle so the daytime was a blast. All the other cub scout dads walked around laughing with water and I was chugging Red Bull in the unusual 85 degree heat. However it hit 50 degrees at night and we slept in a tent. I had virtually no HA all night. Only a few shadows. I know cold is generally better but maybe I'm onto something here. Thoughts?

Hey Mike,

I wonder if it had anything to do with the level of deep sleep you either did or didn't get?  I am in cycle at the moment, but this weekend didn't get a hit at all!  I had my partner staying and he is a mighty snorer  Roll Eyes  I tend not to get hit when he's here and I think it is because I don't experience any deep sleep.  Just a thought.

Bet it was nice to get a pf night!!  Maybe you could set up the tent in the back yard and prolong the experience  Wink

Take it easy.

Camping with your son and NO getting hit is one of those precious moments.

I'd consider living in the tent! Wink We talk a lot about the frustration with discerning cause and effect from simple coincidence. I'm with Linda, chalk it up to another awesome memory beasty wasn't able to screw up! Smiley

I just read a post on here about someone stopping them by sticking his head in a freezer and breathing rapidly .. the cold air probably shrinks the nerver and blood vessels .. I suppose you could try this.

I do know the cold air is always a friend to my headaches, which would explain it, most likely. as soon as the morning came, and the air heated up, the HA was back. Either way, as was said, it was a fantastic night, we had a blast with a killer campfire, lots of fun, and great first camping trip with my 7 year old. Though, it's been about 8 years since I slept directly on the ground like that (we've been cheating and camping on blow up beds or in cabins). over the last 20 years, my wife and I have camped up and down the east coast from upstate NY to West VA. Anything within driving distance. It's amazing. I'm taking up trail running again after my marathon next month in the hopes of regaining some of that joy and maybe clearing my head in the winter air.

Mike,

How much sun did you get and how much exposed skin?

Take care,

yes, and maybe this is a stretch, but even before CH, or before I knew I had it, whenever I felt "off", my best recovery was to walk outside in the cold air (in the winter) or walk in the freezer at work (when I worked in restaurants). I just don't adjust to heat well.
