High Cycle and Not a Happy Camper
Oct 29th, 2011 at 8:58am

It's fall again and I've hit a high cycle and am not handling it well. Nothing seems to be working this time around. O2 will take the edge off.. Red Bull about the same.. But I've hit a high on the migraine scale along with the CH's and that's not a fun thing...

Neuro gave me imitrex pills to take (do it first thing in the morning to try to PREVENT) -- well, this ain't working out either. (The cafergot isn't working at all right now and I really don't want to go to the DHE unless I get to death's door - I HATE that stuff and it puts me down totally for about a week or so)

So I call and tell them I neuro and tell them I need the injections, but that I do NOT want the PENS - I want the vials. My doc is out of town and the other doc in the office was really nice - gave me what I wanted. The nice nurse calls me back and says the drug store is having to order it - ok, I've gone this long - I'll just have to wait...

Then, I gets me a call from the drug store. "We're ordering this imitrex and we're a little confused - there's the injectible pens and the syringe kind. Do you want the pens?" HELL NO - I want the vials - the syringe kind - that's what the DOCTOR ordered. (Did I mention I was hitting on about a 7 at this time?) Then I get all the "advantages" of the PENS and how I don't have to "look" while I'm injecting and blah blah blah... By now I'm getting a little bit aggitated.

so I go off on a tirade about CH (more than they wanted to know) and we decided that the "syringe" type was just what the doctor ordered and they would be here Monday morning thankyouverymuch!

Now if someone could tell me how to keep the barometer under 30 and steady, I think I'd be sane for a while.

Right now, I've got a two-year old having surgery next Thursday and a 9 year old (ADHD) about to "go off" on a kid on the school bus who's cussing him out morning and evening and on the playground (yes, I've already been to the school about it) and yesterday he comes home with proof (he took his Ipod and recorded it - Ipods are NOT allowed). With this going on I really don't need the drama of CH hitting...

Then to top everything, the neighbor's dogs killed a rabid skunk and we had to have all our dogs REvaccinated and now we're trying to catch all the cats (they eat here but won't let humans touch them, so we have to "trap" them to get them to the vet to get them vaccinated).

Right now I'm down to a "shadow" and think I'll go take one of those darn imitrex "pills" and see if that will keep it at a mild roar. I've already had a pot of coffee and a hit of O2. Right now the barometer is steady - and if it stays steady I may survive this day...

Enough whinning for one morning.

this is the first day of deer season and I-son and Caleb (he just got his FIRST hunting license) are in the woods trying to get the "big one" - Hope they bring something home besides a cold.. Kiss

BarbaraD, sorry to read you are suffering with a high cycle.  Hang in there and be strong!  I also am suffering a very high cycle and can relate to your pain today.

I've read some of your recent posts and know you are well educated on CH's.  So not about to offer advice as I don't want to disrespect your intelligence.

I do however wish you as good of a day as possible! Wink

Sorry to hear that Barb,  the games we have to play to get what we need just ticks me off to no end. As you know I'm high cycling right now, been for a few months.

Twice the Hosptal Pharmacy has given me the wrong size needles for my DHE. I use the 1 inch for intramuscular and they gave me 5/8'ths for sub-Q. Actually gave myself a couple shots in my dark room before I caught it. Damn...

I wondered why it didn't work so well. Just letting you know you're not alone.

Aw, c'mon Babs. It's not as though your favourite out-house has been washed out to sea.

Yet.

Thanks Aussie - always something to be thankful for - and the outhouse is still standing Smiley

doing about the same this morning.. Mr. Demon woke me up about 3 a.m. (but he let me sleep thru the night thanks to melatonin) so I've been up pacing.. took an imitrix pill after the O2 got it down to a 4-5, so maybe that will keep it down (along with a Red Bull and some coffee).

Have a "full house" of Houston relatives, but they've been informed that I'm just not up to waiting on them and that they're on their own at Aunt Barb's this weekend... they came to hunt - so hunt.

the baromoter stayed relatively steady yesterday so I did pretty well... and I was sitting out on the porch. The neice came out and begin complaining of a migraine. told her to take a couple of Excedrin and call me in the morning.. Sorry - I just wasn't in the "mood".. She decided she might just be hungry and went in and ate and got "all better". I was so happy for her..  Roll Eyes

No deer yesterday, but maybe they'll see one today. Think the deer KNOW it's hunting season (they do tend to know things like that) and have gone into hibernation. Or it might have something to do with TWO nine year olds sitting in the stands with their daddy's helping them hunt..  Smiley

Yesterday afternoon the Chase (the two year old) got away from me and I had to chase him down the hill and drag him back up to the house (the RZR was at the barn and he was "going to Dallas") - anyhow when we got back to the house I told him it was "nap" time and put him down - Granny was in no mood to argue. I-son came back a few minutes later and asked "how" I got him down for a nap (they seem to have a problem). Told him I'd loan him my "dog training" book - "down boy - stay!" works real well.. then I told him to "sit" and he sat down - "See it STILL works on you!" the next words out of his mouth were "MOM!!!!"  Wink

Anyhow, I'm gonna get better -- always do - just have to complain some.. and like I always tell newbies -- this is the only place that anyone understands... they sure don't at my house.. (except maybe Caleb and he's only nine and just knows Granny hurts and not to touch her but give her O2).

They keep telling me if I'd quit smoking I wouldn't have them anymore and it's my own fault.. ok, if you guys would quit eating you wouldn't be fat either..

Oh well, so much for anyone understanding these things.. it just ain't gonna happen so I guess we just live with that fact.. But tomorrow is Monday and maybe the imitrex shots will bring some help.. It's been about 15 years since I took them, so maybe....

Luv ya all.. and thanks for being here. Kiss

Damn. Sorry you're getting hit Aunt Barb...

Tell your family that mean old Charlie quit smoking but it took another 11 years before my CH became history.

If you want to cool off, it was 27 degrees this morning with about 1/10 of an inch of snow. Gonna bundle up and rake leaves later.
