Mini CH?
Nov 7th, 2011 at 11:18am

It's been since March that I've been in cycle.  It's not been too bad lately, though.  I can get a few weeks in PF.   I just can't seem to get to that 30 day mark.

Lately, I've been  having very intense, but short, hits.  I guess that's what they are.  Out of the blue, I will have what feels like a full blown CH.  Sometimes just in my eye and nose, other times just my lower jaw and all of the teeth on my right side.  It comes on so fast and hard but then goes away within a few minutes.  They are different than the "ice pick" pains I sometimes have.  I usually use an energy drinks and they'll stop of a while.

I was curious if anyone else has ever experienced this?

PF wishes,

Jeannie

Hi Jeannie

What you describe has a familiar ring; I get the same mini hits that usually only last a few seconds but are a reminder that its still there ready to give a bashing when ever it pleases.

If there's one consolation these mini hits have never turned into the biggie & I can live with that; this has been happening since I went chronic back in 2004, when I have gone into a high cycle these stop & don't come back until I'm back in the low.

Cheers
Barry

same thing with me. the ini hits shadows have been happening since my last cycle ended back the end of april 2010. I have not had a "clear head" since that cycle which was my second cycle ever in 11 yrs! It just never seemed o go away just a constant reminder to stay on guard! Undecided
Drives me mad kinda like post traumatic stress disorder knowing what it "could be" if the shadows become full blown.

Hi Jeannie,

About 7 years ago...for about 3-4 cycles...my hits became 0-10-0 in less than 5 minutes. At first it was the scariest part of my ch career. I was sure a bursting aneuyrism.

Once I got "used" to them I actually "preferred" these short screamers to the typical 90-120 min dancers. Have never had similar since...

Best,

Jon

Thanks for the responses.   Though I am never happy that others experience CH, it is comforting to know that I'm not the only one who experiences strange changes.  I definitely prefer brief daytime hits to the longer nighttime ones.

Barry,

Sorry to be so slow in responding...  'Have been playing Paul Bunyan (a lumberjack/logger) for the last few days trying to get all the fire wood cut, split, and stacked in the woodshed I can before the weather turns.

Bill is spot on as usual with the answer to your question about SUNCT.

Jeannie,  I'm not a doctor, but I've every reason to suspect your headaches will respond to the anti-inflammatory regimen if you'll give it a try.

If you decide you want to try this regimen, please see your primary care physician or neurologist first and ask for the 25-Hydroxyvitamin D, a.k.a. 25(OH)D lab test.  I suspect you are vitamin D3 deficient and your results will come back at or below 100 nmol/L, (40 ng/mL) as have all the other CH'ers who have gone in for this lab with active CH.

Take care and please keep us posted however you proceed.

V/R, Batch
