Starbuck's DoubleShot
Nov 9th, 2011 at 8:29am

I don't know if we are a test market for this, or if it is generally available everywhere, but the other day I was picking up my usual box of Monster's, when I saw the Starbuck's DoubleShot product. It is flavored coffee, with an energry drink component. What got my attention (apart from being on sale) was the 1800mg of taurine. So I bought two to try them. Not carbonated, good tasting, and worked rapidly with O2. Anyone else had experience with this? I was wondering about the taurine amount, but since I tend to only take one-two Monsters per/day, thought the one with extra taurine wouldn't hurt. Blessings ya'll. lance

I hadn't seen them yet but will go looking. Sugar Free Red Bull still tastes like what I imagine cow piss tastes like...even with lots of ice! Grin

Having been on verapamil, I exclude taurine, however have found shots of expresso to work wonders for ramping hits.  Double shots of it have killed off hits in minutes that have gone too far and would only require an abortive.  A straight double when in need.  Handy at work.  Not that tasty, but heck, I don't think I ever drank tequila for the taste, just the effect, and I went through bottles of it.    Wink

Running around on my days off, unarmed, a coffee at Starbucks with a shot of expresso in it and I'm very confident I'll stay untouched.

Between Starbucks and McDonalds having expresso, it's never far when on the road.

If you're near your O2, try it once without using the O2 at first and see they could help by itself in a bind.  It might help others in a pinch, keeping note of a Starbucks in a vicinity, many around.  If stuck completely unarmed getting hit, maybe a friend or supporter can help drive to the nearest shop.  It could head off a ramping hit or maybe cut short a bad one.

Hey Kevin, I wish it were true for me that a shot of anything like the energy drinks, or just lots of caffeine, would work in any way by itself. I know it does for some, but not for me. I have tried it and in my case, it is some interaction among the taurine, caffeine and O2 that helps me turn the corner. I generally (almost always) have with me either O2 or imitrex, but I have been caught once or twice when I wasn't getting hit every day, but every 2 or 3 days. Stupid me. God bless. lance

I understand, Lance.  Perhaps for me, having been on verapamil, the hits are breakthroughs over the preventive med and gloved, surely ramping, but not bare-fisted hits, thereby possibly being more easily containable.
