Migrating cluster headache?
Nov 13th, 2011 at 10:21am

So, I've been recently diagnosed as a clusterhead.  I'm currently "enjoying" my 2nd cycle.  My headache is always on the left side of the head and for the most part it's near my eye/temple/ear area.  However, as of yesterday, the swelling moved to my jaw just to the left of my chin.  The swelling is noticeable.  I was wondering since the swelling is so close to the surface if anything numbing like ice could help it?  I don't have O2 yet and I'm looking for any way to squash this wee bastard.

Thanks all,
Dan

That sucks!  Never heard of that swelling in the jaw, but others may chime in.

You've found the best place to get support and education, stick around and read and learn.

Good Luck!

Swelling is a new one for me, also. But worth a try using ice pack and heat. Both have been used and the success of each is very individual so only some trials will show what may work for you.

umm, not so sure the swelling in your jaw is related to the CHs. There are lots of reasons why you could be experiencing both CHs and jaw swelling at the same time. An absess comes to mind. I'd get that checked out separately while using ice to reduce the pain and inflammation. If it is just CH related, then it's a new one on me as well. God bless. lance

We discuss this now and then on the board. There's a tendency to blame everything on CH when it may in fact be masking a secondary condition. Whether it be dental related or from another source. Certainly worth a visit to the doc.
