My botox injections... fingers crossed
Nov 24th, 2011 at 8:12am

I had my 31 botox injections yesterday and my fingers are crossed that they MAY have done some good (at least for the migraines and MAYBE for the CH).

I thought they were all going in my forehead and I was WRONG - he injected them all over my head and neck and hit some pretty sore spots on the CH side - especially around my ear (where I get the ear cramps).

I mentioned the ear cramps and he told me his wife (who has migraines) had complained of the same thing and the botox had stopped hers (fingers crossed big time on that - those things drive me crazy).

He injected some of the stuff in the base of my neck (where the CH "knot" is and that smarted).

It was strange - on the NON CH side, I really didn't feel much, but on the CH side the injections smarted (didn't really hurt but I did feel them a lot more so).

He said it would take about a week to kick in, but that I'd notice the wrinkles in my forehead disappearing (this is NOT a bad thing) and I'd know it was working.

Guys, if ever you had vibes to send out - please use them now.. Those of you who've known me forever - know I've tried about everything under the sun for these things (including banana peels pasted on my head) - so if there's a chance that this might help...

And on the bright side - at least I'll get rid of a few wrinkles (ya knew I'd have to make a joke somewhere... Wink). Kiss

That is interesting that he said it would take about a week to kick in.  My neuro told me that I should get the injections once every 3-4 months.  That it could take a couple of injection times to see results.  So if you don't see results the first time don't be afraid to ask to try it again to see.  It did wonders for my migraines not ch.  But hey I will pray it works miracles for you.

Karla I do have a repeat in Feb with a higher dose.

But the migraines had gotten chronic and when I hit a high cycle with the CH - well... it was a little much, so if this will help the migraines - that's a big plus in my book.

What I'd give for a good old fashion plain headache that you just take an aspirin and get over it...  Roll Eyes

Sad to say that I was too late with a finger joke. Perhaps you'll be able to uncross them after the Botox. Roll Eyes

Vibes and more to you Barb.

Don't know if it's the botox or the new med, but this is the first morning in forever I've woke up without a shadow or a full-blown HA.

This is good - whatever it is.. fingers crossed (webbed or not) that something is working or breaking.  Kiss

Now this is strange. Last night I got hit, but this morning I don't even have a shadow.. That's unusual in itself.

Today is the day the botox is supposed to kick in (it's been a week).

Maybe Mr. Demon just wanted to let me know he hadn't forgotten me or something.

I know, I know -- and I'm not expecting to be "cured", but .... he just made me mad last night when he came visiting... (Good news - I guess - it was a CH and not a migraine which is what the Botox is supposed to be helping)..  Kiss

Another thought just occurred to me and honest, it didn't hurt.  Botox, from what I've heard is very expensive for just ONE shot.  You had 31???  Smiley

What kind of Insurance do you have Barb.?  Cause I'm gonna run out and sign up with  that Company. Grin

Medicare and an AARP supplement.. A few years ago it would have been out of the question.

Apparently it's "approved" for Medicare..

Yes Botox is an approved treatment for migraines through Medicare.  Most of Phil's treatment for his CH and migraines goes through the VA and he got approved for Botox.  He didn't have great success with it, but it gave him a little relief.
