What prevents and abortives are you using.  You really haven't given us much to go on.

I've had them 33 years and haven't gone blind yet. I hear you though, at times it seems like your eye should explode from the pain. Cry

Have you taken a look at welders oxygen? Very cheap, a great abortive. For low cost, long term preventatives, please consider taking a look at Clusterbusters.com   A lot of middle class, middle aged, law abiding types have gone that route and never looked back as a result of the successes they've enjoyed.

All the medical literature says that CHs cause no physical side effects.  Once the pain is gone, it's gone (until the next time, of course).

I've been episodic for over 30 years.  Never went blind.  Sometimes after a really bad hit my eyelid will stay drooped a little and my eye will be red for longer.  But no blindness.

And yes, they suck.

Despite what one would think there is NO...repeat NO indication that CH does ANY damage.  Unless you are a headbanger like I am and bash your head into the drywall.

Welders O2: What I use as my 'Dr' says O2 is too expensive and won't Rx for it. Works great. But, around here, you 'buy' the tank - read 'rent' because you just trade it in for another. That is about $200.00-$250.00. Mine holds 60lbs O2, about 36" tall by 8" around. Refill is $22.50. Mask, bought from this lovely site. 0-25LPM regulator, $55.00. I have two tanks, so I don't have to dash 50 miles for a refill. But, the 'script' is only $22.50!!

A lot up front, considering the situation, but perhaps the 'Fat Man' might help early. I would certainly put the word out to family as to what you REALLY NEED for the Holiday!

Blind: No, but the vision on the CH side is slipping a bit each year. Old age? Probably.

But, the 'droop' can be permanent or just for 2 years, as mine was. Now. that lid and brow are both elevated 1/8 to 1/4" permanently it seems. They have been up there for 3 years now. Embarrassed

Guess I just like to read too much, as with the droop I couldn't do that very well and practiced with the muscles and mirror till the sucker moved! Neuro doesn't believe me, but eye Dr saw it several times and sees it now. She believes me! Smiley

Good luck. If mine holds, tonight will be the 2nd with no O2 or pain!

May you have several PF days ahead.

Your Dr. is an idiot.  Nothing new around here though.  Most Drs. are, when it comes to rx-ing 02 or anything else.  I pay cash.  An e-tank costs me 10.00  Too expensive?   I don't think so.

Yes, I know he is an idiot. Angry But, starting over right now is not an option.

You are lucky. Here, ya gotta BUY the tank. Then the fill is cheap.

How much odes your tank hold?

There is a cluster of nerves which run around our head which are involved in a Cluster attack. The "eye" pain is a major symptom but, especially with severe attacks, some people feel pain in their teeth. In both situations, there is no disease/pathology in eye or jaw/teeth. Regard as a kind of phantom pain.

Not to worry.
